COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed for Union Jacks. Formerly Legacy Hoptimus Prime. Aggressively formulated with five different hop varieties, Hoptimus Prime is then dry hopped for two weeks, ensuring a MASSIVE hop flavor and aroma. Perfectly balanced with three types of malt, Hoptimus Prime is truly the pinnacle of hop flavor. This Double IPA pairs fantastically with spicy Thai food, Mexican cuisine, or a big ol’ bowl of chili.

22oz. Pours hazy orange/amber with average head. So yeasty! Banana all over the place with underlying citrus fruit, oranges, pineapple. Just gets more and more tropical. The palate is quite tropical as well. Tasty and interesting.

Appearance: Blood orange under a thin pithy head which swirls with spotty lace and a foamy pithy head.
Nose: Mild at first, but quickly opens up to reveal spicy stewed stone fruits the likes of peaches and apricots. Key lime and lemon lime along the sides – fresh and zesty. Melba and flatbread cracker crunch underneath. Sticky hop resins in the middle.
Palate: Not as heavy as expected given the richness of flavors. Sweet up front with hop resins, peach, apricot, and orange oils. A long lingering bitterness in the back speaks of key lime and orange pith. Orange honey along the edges and on the lips. Quaff and repeat.
Final Thoughts: A solid sticky juicy Imperial IPA that had flavor but lacked depth and complexity despite its cool label and pop culture references. Good but not great.

26 may 2013, bottle. Light orange, clear, steady bubbles. Nose is orange and grapefruit. Med body and moderately fizzy. Sweet oranges, bitter grass, some white raisin. Decent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice dark amber color with a minimal head. Moderate amount of carbonation. Obviously heavy on hops and some hints of citrus, otherwise not particularly complex. Enjoyable nonetheless and a good example of an IPA but not much else going on here.

2013-05-18. Dark amber body with a nice beige head. 3++ Sweet malty aroma with interesting hop overtones, resin, green leafy hops. 7+ Flavour is similar, nice malty core, caramel notes, moderate alcohol, resiny leafy hops. 7+ Smooth average plus bodied palate. 3+ Enjoyable, bigger than anticipated - I didn’t realize how strong it was. Needs just a touch more Leadership Matrix. Bottle via trade with Ferris

I think that with a name like hoptimus prime it should be more of a pronounced hoppier taste. The malt over powers the hops in my opinion. That said although this imo is not a good representation of a dipa it is still enjoyable. The alcohol is hidden well and it is pretty sessionable and refreshing. Not my style as far as double ipa is concerned but tastey

Bottle. Pours orange gold. Nose and taste of perfumy hops, caramel malt, grass, alcohol soaked citrus and orange peel. Slightly spicy malt. Medium body. Finishes bitter orange/slight resin.

Pours a hazy amber colour with a large creamy off-white head. Aroma is not too strong but has a noticeable citrus hop scent and some general fruitiness and grain malt notes. Taste is a little too sweet and lacking in bitterness for me. Light-medium body, thinner mouth feel and average carbonation. Overall good brew, unsatisfactory double IPA.

Color is dark hazy orange. Thin head. Aroma bitter orange zest. Light zest bitter beer. Bottle was way too old. Almost soapy. If you like buying orange/lemon peels get this. Not happy. I wish I had a fresher beer.

Old bottle from ABC. Pours clouudy light orange with tiny white head. Strong lemon and orange zest aroma with some caramel candy malt. Bit of wet dog. Flavor follows aroma exactly. Lots of orange peel. Not much hops left here. Medium mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Meh.
