4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
(draft) Fluffy beige head leaves lovely lacing atop hazy apple juice body. Aroma is moderately sweet, pineapple, some grapefruit, light caramel. Taste is moderately sweet, pineapple/grapefruit, some caramel, apricot. Nice bitterness that lingers. Chewy medium body. Alcohol virtually invisible -- only the sweetness suggests what lies within. Silly name, but great beer.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft samples at UPennís beer festival í07. Pours a nice copper color. Aroma is wonderfully hoppy - citrus & pine mostly, with a little malt. Flavor is full of citrus & pine hop elements, with a good bit of balancing maltiness. A fair amount of bitterness. Sharp and crisp. Very tasty and drinkable.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JAN 27, 2008 Double IPA sounds great, but this is now over the top. Astringently hoppy. Hops in the nose. Hops in the taste. Hops even in the mouthfeel. Sweet malt backbone almost broken by hops. Alcohol hidden by hops. I mean, Iím a big fan of hops and then more hops, but this actually got boing. Good looking hazy golden with a small white head. Some peppery bite in the finish, but mostly just hops. Slight penalty for all that alcohol without real complexity.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at DRE. Medium copper pour, with aroma of caramel malt, tropical/piney hops, some peppery notes. Tastes hefty on the palate, with a big hop jolt, coupled with caramel malt. The hops outshine the malt here, and the IBUs approach a Southern Tier Unearthly level.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Mad Mex on McKnight. Very little hop aroma, surprisingly. Not overly floral or fruity. Mild malty sweetness with carbonic gaseousness and a good hit of diacetyl. Medium amber gold clear with creamy off-white lacing head. Heavy watery body with medium carbonation. Starts with fresh, grassy bitter hops; spicy and sharp, with good sweet malt balance. Heavy bitterness from start to finish. Leaves dry puckering bitter with tongue coating. Big bitter taste, just not in the nose. The taste grabs your attention, though.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAY 24, 2007 Orange-gold with small head. Aroma is hop-dominant, with various piney-citrus flavors. Taste was hoppy - a bit too much on the Grapefruit side. This one lacked the proper malt backing that is the sign of a good D/IIPA. Finishes nice, but I expect more from the style.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask festival at Brazen Head, downtown Brooklyn. Slightly hazy but bright orange color. Big 2IPA cask aromatic hops-Tropical flowers and fruits, blossom honey, citrus, and peach. Flavor consisted of basically the same characteristics but with a bit of tea-like flavor and some soapiness. Considering the cask sample and the noisy atmosphere, a little hard to judge. Overall impression was favorable, however.

brewtopia. This is too alcoholic. I thought hedonism was really good but this is the same thing with a shot of vodka in it. Nevertheless, hoppy but not enough to mask the alcohol.
