Brewed for Union Jacks. Formerly Legacy Hoptimus Prime. Aggressively formulated with five different hop varieties, Hoptimus Prime is then dry hopped for two weeks, ensuring a MASSIVE hop flavor and aroma. Perfectly balanced with three types of malt, Hoptimus Prime is truly the pinnacle of hop flavor. This Double IPA pairs fantastically with spicy Thai food, Mexican cuisine, or a big ol’ bowl of chili.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a vibrant golden color with a very large yellow-white head. The aroma was strong piney and grapefruity hops. The flavor was piney and grapefruity hops with a light malty undertone. The hops coat the tongue and really linger.

Tap at Capital Ale House - Innsbrook. Medium amber orange, nice head that threw a good lace. Aroma was pine and citrus. Flavor was the hop bomb I expected, caramel malts that bordered on gummy with a huge shock of citrus and pine. Perhaps not an inspired IIPA, but a well executed one that I enjoyed.

Sampled Hoptimus Prime @ Union Jack’s (Glenside) served appropriately in a goblet. Big, big 2XIPA with citrus, pine, even pineapple flavors complimenting a full bodied malt. This is an excellent offering from Legacy. Maybe it was a "fresh" keg or I haven’t had a 2XIPA in a while....Hoptimus Prime was a bullseye with me.

Draft at RFD. Clear, amber color with a nice thick head. Hops all over the place. Thick taste. Chewy as well. Some bitter hops, and you can kind of pick up the alcohol as well. Very good beer.

Draft at RFD. Pours a clear, yellowish-orange color; off-white head with fine-bubbled lacing. Pleasant, resiny hop aroma. Dense, chewy hop presence (citrus, floral) with some decent candy sugar maltiness; slightly dry, plasticy flavor. Medium, dry hop and citrus bitterness in the finish.

Draft. Copper color with bitter hop nose. This beer has a toned down malt profile and a super charged bitter hop taste. The bitterness lingers in the back of throat. Massive lacing. one dimentional but still pretty good.

stegosaurus (1882) - Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 1, 2007
On draft at Capones. Pours deep golden with a large light tan head. Aroma of hops, citrus, pineapples, and caramel malts. The flavor is slightly sweet caramel and pineapples upfront, then the citrusy characteristics pop out, and finishes with a bitter dryness, very nice.

Fluffy beige head leaves lovely lacing atop hazy apple juice body. Aroma is moderately sweet, pineapple, some grapefruit, light caramel. Taste is moderately sweet, pineapple/grapefruit, some caramel, apricot. Nice bitterness that lingers. Chewy medium body. Alcohol virtually invisible -- only the sweetness suggests what lies within. Silly name, but great beer.

Draught: Very bitter aroma. Smells hoppy with notes of pineapple, grapefruit, and pine. Poured golden/amber in color with a medium-sized, dense, white head that lasted throughout. Great lacing. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Medium bitter flavor. Tastes very hoppy with flavors of grapefruit and pine. Medium body. Dryish texture. Lively carbonation. Tingly, bitter finish. Overall, another good IIPA.
