COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Available filtered in a variety of containers in Finland, UK, USA, Brazil, Denmark, France, Spain, Australia, Hong Kong and Japan.
Can has been 4.3% since at least 2014
Ingredients: Pale Malt; Goldings, Challenger & Bramling Cross hops.
Originally brewed in the Ruddles brewery in Oakham, Leicestershire (Rutland); moved in 1997 to the Morland brewery in Abingdon, Oxfordshire; finally moved in 2000 to the Greene King brewery in Bury St Edmunds.
Bottles have been sterile filtered since May 2006.

An English Ale with a distinctive flavour of dark toffee and caramel combined with a crisp bitterness derived from using rare Bramling Cross hops. Tropical and berry fruits from the mix of hops, in particular the rare Bramling Cross which adds black and redcurrants. Challenger in the boiling copper gives robust bitterness and this is balanced by the sweetness from the pale and crystal malts.

I’m wary of beers and small breweries that have sold out to the larger conglomerates. Their hard labour is quickly turned into production=profit-product. Simple math, take a beer, stretch out it’s ingredients and market, market, market! This is the result. Pours a brilliant gold-amber, with a good size fluff of white bubbles. Light floral hop and burnt sugar aroma. In the mouth, a carbonic bite hit on the tip of the tongue, with a malty and sweet mid palate, and a slightly astringent ’grapeskin’ swallow. Stayed quite bitter throughout, short dry aftertaste and very thin-bodied. Still, quite sessionable, but with all the bad points, I wouldn’t bother it again. On the plus, least it’s not sold in a nitro-can.

Canned. The aroma has toffee, nuts, bit floral hops. Clear, copper coloured be with a thin off-white head. The taste is light bitter and sweet, has toffee, caramel and floral hop. Bit watery body.

From Carrefour. In Ikea’s pint glass. Watching Sons of Anarchy 3x01. Watery, weak, rancid, bad smelling. Not sure if its the beer or the style what I dont like, as I havent tasted many bitters yet.

Piana dosyć obfita, ale duże pęcherze i średnio trwała. W aromacie karmelowe i przyjemnie ziołowe, chmielowe. W smaku podobnie słodowość i karmelowość kontra fajna ziołowośc i chmielowość. Fajna goryczka ziołowa, średnia, nie zalega. Średnio lekka treściwość i średnie wysycenie. Przyjemny, wyważony, fajny angielski ESB.

Butelka, Lidl.
