[Cask at GBBF 2005 - as Alf’s IPA] An orange beer with a thin white head. The aroma has slight notes of butter as well as hops. The flavor is fruity combined with notes of hay and bitter lemon, leading to a dry end.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
A fairly simple IPA. The body is quite thin, with a touch of grainy, carmelly malt, and some light citrusy hops in the finish. It wasn't so bad, but its not something i'd have again. (Cask GBBF 03')

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Cask, GBBF 2003 Nearly all the British beers were on handpump at the GBBF - it was the "foreign" beers, including American, that were gravity. Gold colour. Soft citric aroma. Soft citric flavour. Medium bodied. Quite dull. Flat finish which returns with mild and soon vanishing citric flavours.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. ABV 5.2%. I was expecting more from this, the ABV certainly doesn’t make its presence felt. Poured amber with a ring of white head; a light fruity aroma; a light body with a sweet tropical fruit flavour; and a soft, slightly musty, bitterness to finish. I expect more from something at this strength that calls itself an IPA.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Not sure if this should be a new entry. Rudgate IPA 5.2%.
Cask @ Tennents Bar. Slightly hazy dark golden colour, creamy, dense, medium off-white head. Nose is caramel malts, bit of fruits. Flavour is caramel malts, toffee, biscuit, bit of sour fruits. Fairly bitter and slightly dry finish.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Yellow color, some fizziness apparent. The aroma is more musty than hoppy, with some grassiness. Decent palate, and a lot of carbonation. Very classically English IPA that doesn't come close to the American take on the style. (cask at GBBF 2003--I have in my notes it was a hand-pump at this festival, not a gravity cask)
