Cask handpull, The Crown, Nuneaton, 10/01/12. Weighty, ruby-edged mahogany with a finely cratered vanilla foam. Enticing cafetiere aroma; more fresh brewed coffee and milky praline roastedness in the taste. Lactic-soft with hazelnut and mocha notes. The honey imparts body and heft but not flavour.Top stuff.

Cask, Tilleys, Ncl. Bitter and smoky, with tobacco in the aftertaste - brown to black appearance. A hint of honey, but the dry roast dominates, in what is a fairly interesting and unusual combination of flavours. A touch of sweetness comes through with progression to create some good balance and it becomes a bit fruity towards the end, with blackberry evident.

Cask at Green Man, Stamford. Lincolnshire. Very dark brown. Faint rather vegetal aroma. Pleasant if rather nondescript taste with a trace of dark fruit and a mid bitter finish. Not much honey. Not very stout.

Cask handpull at Churchills Ramsgate. Black lasting beige head. Diacetyl like a few Rudgate beers I have had. Some roast some butter some dryness on finish. Not great flavours to be honest.
