Dark ruby mild, a quite pleasant nutty, fruitcake aroma. Dark fruit flavour, hintof soy sauce, a dry, lightly hopped finish. A decent stab at a ruby ale froma decent brewery, but lack of carbonation and lack of depth means a fairly average score only.

Cask at Bunters Bar, Truro. A deep brown colour with a foamy off white head. Aroma of roasted malts, nuts, some chocolate, subtle brown sugar and a little strawberry. Taste of strawberry, some cherry, chocolate, slight roasted malts, a little toast and nuts. Light bodied and soft carbonation. A chocolatey, nutty finish with a little roasted bitterness. Nice roasted, toasted, nutty flavours paired with fruit and chocolate. A great, tasty mild.

Its reputation goes before. Excellent colour with nice shading. Nuts in the scent. Malt on the tongue. A pleasing sweetness. And at a strength where one can have a second glass. Accolades deserved.

On cask this was an 8/10 -richly bready, sweet, nutty, smooth, nourishing. From a bottle it?s a 3/10 - thin, acrid, harsh like fruit skin. Milds and pasteurised bottling are not happy bedfellows.
