Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a clear brown with an orange hue and an off-white hue. Rustic, woody "Old Ale" aroma. Medium body, skewed maltiness, nutty. Rather hoppy finish. 231109

Cask at Bankers Draft (JDW), Bedford, in ’Spoons BF ’09. Dark brown with a small off white head. Buttery aroma. Taste is thin oily malt with background hints of ashtray and treacle tart. Slight bitterness. Quite nice, but I’m not as ecstatic as the GBBF judges.

Dark brown color, good creamy beige head. Chocolaty, caramelly aroma (light hops). Chocolaty flavor with grassy hops. Medium-bodied. Some bitterness in the aftertaste.

Cask Conditioned at Oliver Twist, Stockholm
Dark amber to brown color. There are hints of roasted malt, both in the aroma and flavor; the mouthfeel is quite dry, the body stronger than the average, and the dominant flavor is dark chocolate. The final is chocolatey, dryish as well. Pleasant.

Cask at GBBF ’09, dark brown with a large yellowish head. Just a light nose that has touches of caramal. A big mouthfeel, lots of malt with some coffee, some chocolate, and some smokiness. Impressively complex for a Mild. It is obviously in good form. I love it.

Cask at the GBBF 2009. An appropriate beer for my 100th rating with it being the Champion beer at the festival this year. It’s a nice dark red beer with oak and wood chip aroma with maybe a touch of dark fruits in the background. Nice full palate and overall very well balanced. The flavours are fruity and hoppy with a lovely, long, bitter finish. Excellent and especially flavourful for a mild.

Cask @ GBBF 2008. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has afruity malty aroma with some nutty hints. Sweetish fruity malty caramel flavor. Has a sweetish fruity malty caramel finish with some hoppy hints in the aftertaste.

500ml bottle. Dark chestnut in colour with some reddish undertones. Big, but short-lived, tan head and plenty of carbonation. Aroma of blackcurrants, sweetish doughy malt and hazelnuts. Flavour was also sweet, with lots of berry fruit, some roastiness and a soft, bitter finish. Very drinkable.
