Old Dungeon Ghyll. Deep clear ruby red, little head, but a glorious looking pint. Slight sweetness, light bitterness, some roasted flavours but gentle. Good mild.

tombyars (1389) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - FEB 29, 2012
First tasted this at the Three Judges, Glasgow in March 2008. Cask, handpump dispense. Black ruby in colour with a creamy buff head. Hint of roast grain in the short aroma. Good smooth mouthfeel and superb lacing. Dark malt complex gives a burnt toast note to start with and then plump overipe brambles comes through in the base. Very slight prickle noted in the short bitter aftertaste. Malty finish has dry roasted coffee beans, plain chocolate and woody cask notes. This is a cracking session mild and the best beer in the Rudgate portfolio - so far!

Bottle from Coppers in Newcastle. A very dark brown beer with a sweet malty flavour and a nutty and red fruity finish.

Dark copper almost black with a tint of red. Light smell of roast and some cherry. Light slightly creamy light sticky body. Ruby taste, stawberry and chery. Light roast finish. A little stong for a mild. You can taste the alcohol. The berry flavour gets stronger.

Cask @ Gallows Bird. Pours a hazy dark red with a large, beige head. Aroma is fruity and nutty. Taste is fruit, nuts and caramel. A bit underwhelming though not that surprising considering the style and when it was had (in the middle of a tasting).

Dark reddish brown colour with small tan head. Nutty and woody aroma with mild hops and some sweetness. Mild malt, nuts, wood and dry mild hops in flavour. Quite tasty for a Mild.

Amber color with a small off-white head. The nose is roasted malts, caramel, chestnut and other nutty flavors. The taste is of grain and roasted malts. Dry finish. The palate’s medium. Nice, well-developed mild.
