Cask at The Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford on 9 October. Poured a clear amber colour with a thin, rocky white head. Toffee aroma with apricot and bready malt. Sweet flavours of fudge, dried fruit countered (but not all that balanced) with grassy hops. Finishes with hey, hop resin and stale malt.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tasted this at the Last Post, Paisley (JDW) in October 2013. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale tawny in colour with a thin white head. Aroma is malty and sweet with toffee notes present. Thin mouthfeel and poor lacing. Pale malt base gives a digestive biscuit base with sweet caramel shortcake notes very much in evidence. Dry dusty hop resins give a sharp metallic aftertaste which jars with the malt component. Finish is malty and sweet with toffee still present. There is a pleasant alcoholic warming burr in the mouth and you know this is 5%. This is a decent ESB.
