Cask conditioned handpump White Horse London 03/05/13. A dark dark ruby coloured beer with a whitish head. A sweet and nutty beer. Some roasty malt and a bitter aftertaste. Chocolate gives it some sweetness and makes it feel a little un stout like. Feels a bit powdery like this kind of beer can but it’s reasonably tasty.

(Cask at Gallows Bird, 20160116) The beer poured black. Its head was small, sparse and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, dark chocolate and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, sweetness, chocolate, earth and bitterness. Afteraste had chocolate, burnt malts and bitterness. Not bad brew but a bit too harsh. Nice chocolate finish.

Fra cask på Hop & Vine Hull 26 Nov 15. Svart. Lavt, litt farget skum. Teppelacing. Svak aroma av røyk & røstet malt. Litt sjokolade. Tørr avslutning. Blir i søtligste laget.

Origin: Bottle. Vessel: Snifter. Supplier: Corks Of Cotham (Bristol). Nose is sweet with hints of berry. Pours a murky black with little head. Taste quickly focuses into burnt wood. Comparatively thin body. A good winter beer for a cold night.

Black beer with a decent beige head. Aroma and taste are both mild chocolate and malt, and the flavour adds a whack of hop to. Quite light for a chocolate stout but very drinkable all the same.

Cask. Jet black with a good solid mid tan head. Nose is very much creamy chocolate. In the mouth, its a light creamy chocolate. Not too heavy in taste or texture. Pleasant, but I’d enjoy a little more flavour on the chocolate.

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2015 From cask at Cellar Bar, Batley, on The Transpennine Real Ale Trail with KL and LH 09.05.15. Black. Dense beige head and lacing. Fine aroma of chocolate and medium dark malt. Also a hint of liquorice, lingering on in aftertaste. Parhaps a bit waterish.

Cask at the Goose, Bracknell. Deep mahogany with a loose beige head; bitter chocolate aroma; dry, with a pleasantly chocolately taste and a lactic body; and a reasonable amount of bitterness. Quite satisfying.
