Sampled in a sip from Lakshmi’s beer, in a restaurant in Lautenbrunnen. Good dark colour, quite carbonated, thin off-white head. Malty aroma, rye bread, biscuits, malt, some slightly earthy hop in the finish. A good dunkel.

Creamy and just a little toasty aroma with some noble hops. Almost opaque garnet with lasting, tan, thin blanket. Flavour begins with a little toasty malt that’s a little sweet and well balanced with bitterness, ending with some toastiness. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation, lasting bitterness. Unremarkable.

500 mL draft on tap at Brasseri 17 in Interlaken on 5/26. Brown pour, amber/red around the edges. 1 finger off-white head left some considerable lacing down the side of my glass. Aroma wasn"t very prominent - just lightly malty. Lightly grainy, sweet caramel malt flavor. Just a hint of hops in a semi-dry finish. A bit over-carbonated. Decent beer that would be easy to drink a few of.

50cl bottle in Interlaken. Dark red/brown; black without light behind it. Light roasted aroma with a faint white wine acidity that grows over time. Bitter caramel flavor with faint coffee and a subtle hop balance; pretty light overall. Medium light body with hight carbonation; clean finish with some lingering bitterness. The acidic quality is a little odd, but it doesn’t seriously distract. Passable dunkel.

Dark coca-cola colored, big vanishing beige head. Sweet, caramelly, only mildly roasted aroma, now after two Swiss dunkels I may say this is typical one... Medium bodied. Flavor is similar with some more roastiness, aftertaste dries with mild hops.

Much better than the premium lager. It pours nicely into a proper chilled glass and has a dark brown appearance. It leaves a nice frothy head on top. Beer goes down smooth and flavors are packed full of hops and spices. Worth a try.

Just came across these notes from my Swiss trip last fall ... Brown color with a reddish tint. Frothy beige head. Lively carbonation and a lightish texture. Roasty and toasty, with nice notes of nuts, tobacco and toffee. Some bitterness surfaced in the finish. Decent, easy-to-drink brew.
