"California Ivanhoe Organic Whole Hops 8% AAU. 4.6% Beta. The original California Cluster variety has been rejuvenated for the first time in more than a half century. Similar in profile to a Cascade with a moderate alpha in the 8% range, it has a nice aroma with mellow hints of citrus and pine and the strong floral/herbal notes typical of English aroma hops. The exact origins of the Ivanhoe hop are unknown but the original California Cluster hop parent was a cross between English and American varieties. Great for American style ales, California Common, stouts, and IPA’s. Try in recipes that call for: Galena, Cluster, Northern Brewer." Bomber from The Davis Beer Shop. Pours light copper amber with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is fruity floral over some light malt. There’s a musty aspect. Call it full bodied. It is floral/fruity, but there’s a musty/earthy component so strong this could be taken for a farmhouse ale. It’s fairly lush in the mouth. I suppose there’s grass and citrus, but my mouth is finding enough flavors to not bother with that possibility very much. This is eminently quaffable.

Bomber from Nugget. Pours a light copper, no lacing. Aroma is weak flora, citrus. Taste is musty, earthy. A different tasting beer, light. I want to like it, but won't buy it again.

I looked all over today for a wet hop, guy at Davis beer shop said I was premature, but my wife found this for me! Aroma is earthy and spicy. Interesting hop combination. But I love it given Sacramentos rich hop growing history! Flavor isn’t very bitter, but the palate is real oily. Flavour is real earthy, mushroom, wood, grassy. Decent, and different that the more popular hop Usage. Very clear red orange, thin head, minimal lacing.

Deep golden, clear, two finger pour. Grain, herbal, medicinal smell. Peculiar flavor. Dry, astringent alcohol flavor, like medicine. Pretty unpleasant.

I have enjoyed both of their other beers, but this one was very disjointed. Aroma of ketchup, belgian yeast, perhaps some sour funk going on here -- it tastes intentional, but is not part of the beer description, so i am uncertain. Hops are very muted, although some grass comes out as it warms. Not a whole lot going on here that i liked. A surprising result as both other beers are very tasty.

Clear golden in color... Aroma is grassy and herbal hops... Flavor is totally unique... Light body and crisp, notes of grass, dirt... Like a fresh cut lawn... Slight bitterness on the palate... Interesting, probably wouldn’t buy it again...

Bottle from Taylor’s Market, Sacramento. This years batch is out. Pours copper with a nice off-white head and a floral citrus aroma. There is a hearty toffee flavor with a smooth hoppy finish. Very nice.
