3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
10/22/11. 12oz bottle. Hazy amber pour with a small khaki head that fades but sticks. Muted malty aroma with a touch of caramel and something that reminds me of oxidation. Slightly fruity flavor that lingers with chocolate and caramel as well as a bitter, grainy aspect. Not bad.

12-oz. Thanks, B! Pours a murky dark amber with loose tan head. Big graham cracker and wet grass nose. Creamy medium body with little carb. Graham crackers and wet grass on the mid palate. Maybe a little lettuce in there. Mild toasty crackery finish.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tap. Brown copper pour with a dissipating white head. Malt bomb anyone - holy cow. Some nut, grain, and caramel in there as well. But this one is all malt.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On draught at the Hanger Room in Willernie, Minnesota. Pours a clear dark copper colored brew with an average off-white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma of toasted biscuit and semi-dry dark malt with some floral hops. Taste is powdery dark malt, a hint of mild yeast, and floral hops. Finish is slightly dry, yet still smooth with some floral hop aftertaste that quickly disappears.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown color. Moderately thick, but short head. No perceivable hop aroma or flavor, this is all malt. Lightly roasted grain with very mild bitternes. Good palate, and a little heavier than some of the other alts I have had. A fine session beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle. Glowing orange-copper color. Thin, creamy white head. Pleasantly true-ish to style, nice toasty brown malt notes. Muted noble hops, faint spiciness in the background. Has some of the nice caramel sweetness if a Sticke, but not quite as refined as an authentic version. Comes off a touch boozy, and yet still a little hollow and one-dimensional as well. An interesting effort.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Chunky caramel orange with a fast fading beige topper. Aroma of toffee, nuts, toasted malt, biscuits and earthy hops. Taste is on the malted side with toffee, nuts, caramel, burnt sugar and a small amount of floral and earthy hops. A little too sweet but overall not bad, sort of like a supercharged brown ale.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Produces all the range of flavors I’d want here. Big fruity notes, good caramel. Tingling, vibrant palate. True enough to the German. An excellent version.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle from Steve’s Liquor and More in Madison, WI. Pours a clear, deep copper-orange colored body with a finger-width, dense and frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is malty and nutty with some grainy toast, biscuit, a touch of molasses, and a nice grassy hopping to balance. Some florals, a pinch of dark fruits, and a medium sweet caramel. Flavor is similar. Caramel and nuts up front with a light molasses sweetness and some bready toast. A tad bit grainy with a very light dark fruit and a light, but balanced grassy and floral hopping. Finishes somewhat sweet, nutty, and malty, but a light bitterness seems to balance well. Toasted nuts increase in the aftertaste with a fairly lengthy duration. Medium, malty feeling, very smooth body with a moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid beer. Malty and nutty with a nice toast balanced well with a light grass and floral hopping. Easy drinking and enjoyable.
