3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
9th October 2011
Hazy gold beer with a good off white head. Light semi dry palate. Starts slightly dweet - pine and a little peach. Bitterness kicks in with tangerine pith and grapefruit. Touch of mango before the finish. Medium bitter aftertaste. Pretty good stuff - well joined up complex IPA.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A: The pour is a slightly clouded golden orange color with a finger of white head.
S: A very perfumey nose to this beer. Itís got a lot of orange notes to it, particularly orange rind, with a bit of grapefruit and tangerine. There is also a floral character to it and a sweet malt note in the back.
T: Lots of orange, tangerine, and grapefruit flavors. Strangely, I get a bit of banana, but that might just be a fluke. A moderate bitterness to the beer with a bit of tropical fruit sweetness. The malt flavor is noticeable and mainly bready.
M: Medium in body with a medium level of carbonation.
D: Overall a pretty good DIPA. Not the most amazing beer of the style, but good.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
355mL thanks to tytoanderso. Pours a cloudy light orange with yeast floaties. Nice, healthy, white head. Sticky, webby retention. Aroma at first is diacetyl, brewing flaws. I get a lot of aromatic notes that remind me of the craft beers in Australia that generally suck. Vanilla, butter, spice, heavily stressed yeast. Sweet citrus comes through but diacetyl is just too prevalent. Heavy booze attempts to cover this up. Taste is boozy, sulfur, melons, meat, cantaloupe. Itís not terrible, but there is something off with the alcohol and honey masking the brewing flaws. Mouthfeel is spritzy, thinner for DIPA but not watery. It is very interesting as I think itís the first heavily flawed American DIPA Iíve had.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 27, 2010 On draught at Bodega Brew Pub in La Crosse. The beer pours a clear orange color with a medium foamy off-white head that dissipates steadily. Partial sheet of lacing on the glass. Citrusy hops and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of citrus and piney hops along with sweet malt and honey. The finish is hoppy with a citrus aftertaste. Above average overall.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12-oz. Thanks B! Pours a cloudy toffeeish orange with plenty of spotty lacing. Rich orange peel and blood orange nose, kinda deep and bitey as it warms. Creamy medium body with very pronounced caramel sweetness from the residual malt sugar, and a lingering blood-orange-y hop oil bitterness working hard to balance that out. Ends up a little on the sweet side. Hides the 9% well, but surprisingly mildly bittered for a DIPA. Pleasant, easy drinker though.

Solid dipa form what I remember, cereal notes and a typical hoppiness but not super bitter.
