3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle - Pours dark brown with a foamy light tan head. Smell is dry roast, with a bit of ash and coffee grounds. Thereís a little roasted nuttiness in there as well. Taste is smooth and roasty, with notes of charcoal and a touch of milk and vanilla. Really smooth and silky in the mouth with a good carbonation level. Wow...really surprised at the low scores on this one. I thought this was a smooth, easy drinker with a nice, straightforward roasty malt base.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
First pour from a freshly-tapped keg.
Beautiful brown in color, murky, and with a bit of rolling, cascading action, though this is no nitr-tap. Head is a tight tan ring.
Aroma is very nice, great gobs of cocoa filling the nose, just a dab of bittersweet espresso, warm and inviting.
Aromatic experiences are revisited in the taste. Chocolate sensations flood the mouth, rich and well-rounded. Full-bodied,with a nice, softly lingering finish. No bitterness, although I like that in my porters sometimes, this is smoothness itself. Very easy-drinking and approachable, but not shy on taste, either.
Good job, here, I think Iíll be getting very well-acquainted with this one.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
2004 ABR. Pretty faint aroma. Milk chocolate notes. Almost fully opaque body. Light brown head. Roasted malt flavor. Well balanced. Slightly dry. Not bad.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at the Old Fashioned: Poured a thick black colour with a small tan head. Aroma is nutty with alcohol and coffee notes. Taste is what threw me off on this one. It was noticeably metallicy from start to finish. Decent roasted malt character gives this brew a firm mouthfeel, at the same time being silky and very nutty. The metallic flavour of this brew is what really turned me off.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured a nice foamy frothy light tan head and some lace. Color is brown with amber highlights. Aroma is malty, roasty, coffee, cocoa,& a bit of vanilla. Flavorís similar. Body is thinner when the beerís colder and gets better as it warms. Carbonationís ok. Finish is decent and like flavor. Could almost be a session if the beer isnít too cold.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Decent enough porter flavors of molasses, brown sugar, chocolate, espresso, etc...but WAY too thin! The mouthfeel is just too watery to support the strong flavor profiles. Some nice hop bite, as well, but build this one up a bunch and try again.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a dark mahogany brown with some copper showing through under a very small beige head that recedes very quickly to a tiny collar.
Aroma is very subtle with the roasted black malts dominating as well as hints of coffee and cocoa powder. Maybe some sweet brown sugar.
The taste is much of the same with sweet chocolate and dark roasted malts. Sweet finish with hints of vanilla and a bit of coffee bitterness.
The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with good carbonation. Maybe a bit on the thin side.
This is a fairly basic porter thatís not that bad but doesnít have any stand-out traits.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle to glass. Pours brown with a foamy kahki head that dissipates to a foamy film. Aroma is light and funky with a malt scent. Taste is bitter light roasted malt with a nutty background. Palate is medium with a chaulky finish.
