3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ericular (230) - Minnesota, USA - MAR 19, 2013
Pours very dark with decent brown head that fades quickly and not much lacing. Aroma is sweet lactose that is pretty restrained overall and has only a hint of roast to it. Taste is much more sweet than stout - which is fine. Then, a little bit of dark malts and just another hint of roast. Not really any coffee. Palate is noticeably carbonated with a pretty thin, hollow, watery finish - the beer’s only obvious flaw. Still, if this is truly 8%, it’s masked well, and goes down easy.

Bottle. Dark black pour, a little lasting gray head and an aroma of milk sugar and a little chocolate. Flavor is roasted malt, some sweet sugar and chocolate with a very thin body. Decent beer, wished it was a little more hearty.

1/14/13 Bottle Four Firkins SLP, MN.
Pours jet black with disappating tan head, very little lacing. Aroma is oats and slight raw cocoa. Taste is grain roasted malt bitter cocoa aftertaste. Very palatable and it hides the 8% well. Very smooth and drinkable, not the best choco stout I’ve had but pretty darn good.
