12 oz. bottle. Creamy, dessert-sweet aroma features chocolate (especially chocolate mousse) and lemon scents. Pours a dark brown with a moderate to large amount of thick, taupe head. Produces good lacing. Flavor is tart, tarry, and bitter at first. Coffee beans. Lemon sourness. Alcohol noticeable in the finish. The taste is not nearly as sweet as the aroma suggests. Milk chocolate or carob emerges upon multiple sips. The taste is that of an artificial chocolate, like a Tootsie Roll. Light bodied and soft in the palate. Rush River Chocolate Oatmeal Stout (that’s how it’s labeled, by the way; no “Nevermore” to be seen on the bottle) is surprisingly interesting, but it is merely interesting and not particularly good.

Bottle at Papsø’s - Thanks. Clear dark brown - white head. Roasted, nutty, chocolate, grainy notes, dry cocoa, light metallic, light bitterness, fruity. OK.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 TAP: at The Blue Door in St. Paul, MN on 3.20.09. Brown pour, but not too heavy. Mild coffee and chocolate on the nose, same on taste, very low hop profile, but a little thin on the palate. Good beer, but just okay for a chocolate stout.

Mild chocolate and vanilla tone in aroma and favor with a thin palate. Weak for anOatmeal Stout

I’ve been hoping for so much more from this brewery... But they have yet to release anything that really wows me. This is not an exception, sadly.

Bottle to glass. Aroma has some roasted malts. Sweet smell. Heavy notes of coffee and chocolate. A little toasty as well. Nice black pour with moderate beige head. Nice and smooth. Moderate carbonation. Not as sweet as I h ad expected from the aroma. Slight bitterness on the finish. Not bad, but not as good as I expected
