3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Growler courtesy of Joel. Pours a deep brownish black body with thin brown lacing. Aroma is smooth roast, cocoa, light earth, vanilla and bitter chocolate. Mouthfeel is medium and smooth - very sessionable for a coffee porter. Very solid, looking forward to trying more offerings from RD.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
In short: A standard coffee black ale with a little nutty twist. Good session beer.
How: Tap at Tap-NY festival 2013.
The look: Near black body topped by a long-lasting small tan head leaving lots of lacings on the glass.
In long: Nose has a moderate coffee presence, medium roast, a certain nuttiness, a bit of a mocha coffee thing going on. Taste is creamy nutty malts, medium roast, some chocolate, some coffee beans, brownies cake. Medium body with a medium carbonation. All ratings so far are very high for this beer, I must be missing something, it is a beer well made, but I thought it was an average take on the style. Good session beer. A decent beer enjoyed at the Tap-NY festival, and the best part about being a beer geek is we can use the free time we have from not getting laid to go to more beer festivals.

Two with lunch at the dutch. Thick tan head in my mug. High marks for not going overboard with the coffee. Porter is focused dark malts but not a crap load of chocolate/ cocoa. Roasty but not overly so. Body is bolder up front narrows a skoash in the center and has an expanding to start finish. Impressive Sir! A solid benchmark for one of your vanguard brews.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap @ brewery. Poured a deep dark cola with a large mocha head and notable lacing. Aroma is huge on roasted coffee beans with hints of nutty malts and smoke. Taste begins with cocoa and nutty flavors prior to a wave of roasty coffee and palatable espresso bitterness. Smooth finish with flavors lingering on the palate. Very impressive porter.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the Newburgh Brewery. Pours a deep black to brown with a thin beige to tan head. Big rich roast and coffee, sweet malt. Lots of nice roast, coffee, very nice roast, coffee, very faint hints of pepper. Really nice roast and coffee, gently sweet. Reminds me of a coffee soda, but without the sweetness. Very nice, tasty, long cocoa, bitter bakers chocolate, roast, cocoa. Very nicely done. Solid stuff.
