COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beanhead takes the base beer of a robust porter and pairs is with a fantastic coffee flavor that comes from a Guatemalan bean roasted by Java Love Coffee Roasting Co. in Kauneonga Lake, NY. Beanhead is completely black in color with an impressive tan head. It has a taste of intense coffee with overtones of bittersweet cocoa and caramel malt balanced with a slight earthy bitterness. While it may look filling, Beanhead is actually medium bodied and lacks the cloying sweetness that makes so many other stouts and porters seem so “heavy.”

On tap at brewery. Nice coffee aromas. Coffee comes through in taste as well. One negative was the thin mouthfeel but overall a very nice porter that I will drink again.

Growler courtesy of Joel. Pours a deep brownish black body with thin brown lacing. Aroma is smooth roast, cocoa, light earth, vanilla and bitter chocolate. Mouthfeel is medium and smooth - very sessionable for a coffee porter. Very solid, looking forward to trying more offerings from RD.

Growler shared by JRedmond. Picked up by GOTC. Pours dark brown. Nose and taste of fresh coffee bean, cocoa and roast chocolate. Medium body. Smooth. Lots of fresh coffee bean.

In short: A standard coffee black ale with a little nutty twist. Good session beer.
How: Tap at Tap-NY festival 2013.
The look: Near black body topped by a long-lasting small tan head leaving lots of lacings on the glass.
In long: Nose has a moderate coffee presence, medium roast, a certain nuttiness, a bit of a mocha coffee thing going on. Taste is creamy nutty malts, medium roast, some chocolate, some coffee beans, brownies cake. Medium body with a medium carbonation. All ratings so far are very high for this beer, I must be missing something, it is a beer well made, but I thought it was an average take on the style. Good session beer. A decent beer enjoyed at the Tap-NY festival, and the best part about being a beer geek is we can use the free time we have from not getting laid to go to more beer festivals.

Draft at TAP NY. Pours near black with a beige head. Sweet fresh coffee and chocolate, lightly roasted malts, and medium sweetness. Good stuff.

On tap at the brewery. Really smooth coffee flavor, not overpowering or bitter. All around a solid porter!

Two with lunch at the dutch. Thick tan head in my mug. High marks for not going overboard with the coffee. Porter is focused dark malts but not a crap load of chocolate/ cocoa. Roasty but not overly so. Body is bolder up front narrows a skoash in the center and has an expanding to start finish. Impressive Sir! A solid benchmark for one of your vanguard brews.

On tap @ brewery. Poured a deep dark cola with a large mocha head and notable lacing. Aroma is huge on roasted coffee beans with hints of nutty malts and smoke. Taste begins with cocoa and nutty flavors prior to a wave of roasty coffee and palatable espresso bitterness. Smooth finish with flavors lingering on the palate. Very impressive porter.
