COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Russell Brewing Company celebrates its 17th Anniversary with a limited edition barrel aged Scotch Ale. This strong, dark ale was brewed with Scottish specialty peated malts for a slightly smoky character then skillfully aged in Bourbon barrels. A special Anniversary Ale crafted by our team of brewers to thank everyone for enjoying our unique beers throughout the years.

Bottle - Rich bourbon and chocolate notes. Some hints of molasses and vanilla. Dark clear amber with a foamy tan head. The barrel aging comes through and matches well with the dark ale. Not too sweet and considering, a pretty clean finish that isnít too cloying. Whisky and roasted malts shine throughout with a mild bitterness that gives is a great mouthfeel. Pretty good, glad I have another.

Undated bomber. Dark clear ruby brown, tan head fades fast. Dark sweet roasted rmalt aroma, woody boozy and fruity notes. Sweet singed dark caramel malt taste, somewhat cloying and flat. ABV seems amplified. Soft carbonation, medium bodied, moderately hopped. Sours and thins a bit as it warms. Ho-hum. DNFL (Definately Not For Lagerboys)

Deep brown pour with not much head to speak of. Initial whiff off the beer gives off nut and a cola sweetness along with hints of espresso. Medium bodied, smooth, low carbonation. Flavour is a little smoky with espresso, chocolate and nut. The finish is smoky and espresso. Not too bad, a bit thin, but decent.

Single bottle purchased at a BC Liqour Store in Invermere, BC on 08/22/2012. Colour: Gorgeuous deep dark ruby with medium-high creamy white head. Nose: Lots of deep rich malt all over the place. Bourbon (caramel and corn) presence too from the barrels. Didnít get any smoke? Taste: Medium sweet, might bitter, medium sour. Rich and hearty beef stew mixed with swirls of caramel. A maple note. Finally a whisp of peat smoke. Sour and tangy through the end and into the finish. A good ol scotch but not the best - perhaps just a nod on the sweet side though. Well done though Russell!

Brown, small fast fading beige head.Sour acetic nose and palate.Smoky sweetness in mid.Mild, but lasting hop finish. Sour & smoky donít mix. Another poor effort from a once decent brewery!

Bottle from Central City Liquor Store, Surrey
Dark brown color, almost black, with creamy steady head. Moderate aroma of cream and Bourbon, also very light sourness. Decent body strength; flavor of dark caramel, with light butter and Bourbon whiskey, very light peat and very light malt sourness; the final is dryer.
Drinkable but a bit messy.

650mL bottle, pours a cola / chestnut brown with a small beige head. Aroma of scotch, slight wood barrels, toasted nuts and caramel sweetness. Flavour begins semi-sweet with caramel, shifting more towards toasted nuts, barely a trace of the barrels, very light peated malts, then ends with a slight astringency. Very light-bodied, especially for the style, missing some depth and viscosity that Iíd prefer for a scotch ale. Another only decent one from Russell.

pours a dark cola brown colour with a medium size head that leaves a nice lacing. The aroma is oak light vanilla and a bit of plum and the flavour is very light malt caramel hints of vanilla and a bit of dried fruit and a medium bitterness. overall enjoyable not super intense and the flavour go well together
