Noir avec un petit col marron. L’arôme du malt torréfié, du chocolat et du anise. Le goût est du malt avec un peu du chocolat et une finition légèrement amer.

Pours a very dark brown with some light shining through and a small light brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruity esters, some phenols, licorice and anise. Flavour is licorice, roasted malt, residual malty sweetness, chocolate, and some dark dried fruity esters.

Pours a dark brown with a red hue and a small brown head that leaves little lace. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, dark dried fruits, latte and a bit of anise. Taste is roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee and a nice bitter anise on the finish. Mouthfeel ha a medium carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel... Nice full bodied and easy drinking.

I thought this was alright. Aromas of coffee and anise. Similar flavor profile. The downside is the thin and somewhat watery palate.

On tap at Barley Brothers, Winnipeg. Dark body, obviously, brown head. Quite a roast aroma, dark chocolate, coffee, but not too intense. I thought it was a bit thinner than I’d like and the flavour was not as intense as the aroma. Still a nice porter.

Strong aroma of fruit (blackberries?) and roasted/coffee-ish malt. Pours dark brown with a decent head that starts to dissipate quickly, but a small layer lingers for a while. Medium to light bodied (especially since it’s 6.5 % abv). Very malty for a porter (perhaps that’s the scottish malts talking) and has a slight roast finish. A bit too sweet for my liking.

Bottle shared at Natifest ’13. Poured a black color with an average frothy light brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate toasted malt and citrus aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted bittersweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid complex brew.

Taster from a bottle shared at Natifest 2013. Mostly clear, dark red / brown color. Minimal off-white head, decent lace. Some milk chocolate, light roast. Smooth, soft, light to moderate carbonation. Dry finish. Bigger bitter taste. Decent, bigger, more assertive porter.

22 oz. bottle shared by DanielCoor- thanks again, Danny! Pours a deep, clear amber-brown color with a small off-white ring for a head. Aroma of malts- roasted, toasted, and chocolate- with some caramel sweetness. Flavor of chocolate, toast, leaves, and some coffee. Light-medium bodied, with a dry mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Why is this rated so low? It’s good.
