COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blood Alley Bitter is an Extra Special Bitter named after a notorious cobblestone laneway in Vancouver’s Gastown district. At 50 ibu this beer is slightly higher in bitterness than the average ESB but it is well balanced by the rich roasted malt flavours

On tap at Rudy’s. Clear copper colour. Thick creamy head that slowly recedes to a thin layer that lasts with nice lacing. Strong hops aroma with a bit of malt. Nice mouth feel that is crisp with soft carbonation. Lasting bitter finish.

Bottle thanks to Brian, light golden color, minimal head. Scent is some grains and a bit skunky, taste is similar, bit of skunk and some wheat, blah. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

March 16, 2013 - bottle shared by Brian. Clear golden pour with some head that faded quickly. Aroma and taste were a little bit of malt and a little bit of hops. A decent brew, but this may be an unfortunate victim of the other amazing beers we have had today.

Bottle, thanks for the trade, Andrew! Yellow golden pour with a small white head. Mild caramel malt, cigarette smoke, earthy hops. Solid.

Enjoyed this beer. It has a crisp bitter taste. Very bubbly and a bit of a sweet start that finishes bitter but not overwhelmingly

Hm really good! I love these high-quality NW style ESBs, and this reminds me of Red Racer. Very smooth, wonderful complex floral/citrus palate, and highly hopped flavour. It’s all bitterness in there. Nice smooth mouthfeel. Hiding behind nothing, it’s just a great brew... and so different from the English ESBs that I think this is a newly emerged substyle.

Bottle. Dark copper with thin head. Low carbonation and not very lively mouthfeel. Some burnt malt and bitter hops in balance. Good but not that interesting.

Draft sampled during HOPoxia 2012. Amber/orange with frothy white head and lacing. Lots of early hop aroma, more floral than citrus, followed by a strong roasted caramel body. Highly hopped for an ESB, the bitterness is still balanced nicely over a smooth, tasty, mildly sweet malt profile. Dry with a sharp finish.
