Blood Alley Bitter is an Extra Special Bitter named after a notorious cobblestone laneway in Vancouver’s Gastown district. At 50 ibu this beer is slightly higher in bitterness than the average ESB but it is well balanced by the rich roasted malt flavours

Pours amber and cloudy with a moderate white head. Slightly week aroma - spruce hops and a bit of maltiness. Taste is what I would describe as a woody bitterness with roasted malts. Finish is abrupt and bitter. Not much else going on.

Very clear light brown with a reasonable pale head. Aroma is toffee, wildflowers, herbal hops. Reasonably light bodied, bitter on the palate with a dry finish and burnt aftertaste. Taste is burnt toffee, citrus pith, caramel, black pepper. A little overly bitter for my liking.

Rating #907 - January 13, 2014 - Taster flight at Craft Beer Market, 4 oz sample.. Pours a dark amber with a foamy off-white head that dissipates slowly, medium-strong retention. Aroma is mild toasted malt, hints of wildflowers. Hop presence is significant, giving the bitter character, but the breadiness of the malt is what makes this beer. Creamy mouthfeel Well balanced, medium bodied ale that is easy to drink.

Esb in name but tastes like a pale ale. It’s floral and hoppy with moderate bitterness. Pretty good but not toasty or nutty like an esb usually is.

A very slight bitterness to it....it is a 50 IBU. Not overly strong, I do like a strong bitter but this allows for a bitter taste if you want to have multiple beverages in an evening.

Bottle (650 ml). From FondueVoodoo, thanks! Clear bright golden/orange with a medium persistent off-white head and some lacing. Aroma is of caramel, earthy notes, light citrus and light hops. Taste is mild with caramel, earthy notes, light citrus and light bitterness. Light/medium body. Moderate carbonation. Super drinkable and and refreshing. Very good bottled bitter.

Bottle. Pours amber with a small head. Not impressed at all. Very dull and boring imo.
