COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with 50% Canadian Wheat Malt and a blend of imported Pilsner and Munich malts. Aggressively hopped with French Strisselspalt and US Columbus hops. The Wheat Malt imparts a slight tang that ties in beautifully with the blackcurrant notes from the abundant use of Strisselspalt Hops. At 10% alc./vol. this ale is ridiculously smooth and easy to drink. Savour the dry, clean finish.

Golden pour with limited white head. Sweet nose; agave, apricot. Full bodied and full flavoured - wheat, yeast, piney and citrus hops and bit of sweetness and spice. Alcohol is noticeable. Well done, but not really my thing.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Cloudy orangey gold with mild white head. Smells of black currant, malts, and varnish/white out. Starts off bitter with a tangy sweet stonefruit taste to end. Very malty.

650mL bottle, pours a hazy dark orangey amber with a small white head. Aroma of caramel, apple skins, toffee, and candied sugar. Flavour brings out dry piney hops, caramel, apple skins, and modest candied sugar. Surprisingly fairly complex, with quite a dry hoppy body, not as thick as a barley wine, so it’s quite easy-drinking. Great stuff - one of Russell’s best.

(650ml bottle) Nose of hops and decent grain base. Not overpowering but decent depth. Very impressed. 7/3/8/3/14

Unexpectedly bitter in a good way. Bitterness lingers at the back. Pours a sunset like amber with a creamy light head rimming the glass. Lightly funky aroma with hints of berry and pear.

Sweet, tangy and fruity notes with some spiciness and light alcohol in the nose. Hazy dark golden body is topped by a low white head that recedes to ring with scant lacing. Really nice balance between the strong hop flavours, assertive bitterness and strong sweet malts. Tangy wheat lingers with the feuity flavours. Medium body is pleasantly effervescent. Very drinkable for 10%! Half pint glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle purchased at the BCLS in February 2013.
