COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aud Blonde may be the lightest colored beer we have ever brewed at Russian River Brewing Company, but don't be fooled into thinking that this beer is light in flavor. It has a refined characteristic, which can be contributed to us blending pilsner malt with a unique hop called crystal. The distinctive characteristic of the crystal hop lends a citrus, almost eucalyptus quality in the aroma and mouth feel of the brew, while leaving the beer with a long dry finish.

On tap at the brew pub, served in a tasting glass. Pours clear straw with a moderate white head. The head remains and leaves a moderate amount of lace. On the nose, there are soft citric hops, pale malts, and flowers. The aroma is surprisingly IPA-like. The flavour is much smaller than expected from the aroma: lightly sweet, acidic and bitter, it becomes moderately bitter towards the end. The finish is average in length with lots of pale malts and subtle Cascade-esque hops. On the palate, it is light in body, with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is an interesting ale that has an IPA-like aroma and the body of a pale golden ale. The nose led me to expect more from the body. 2011-06-09

sample from Russian River Brewpub. Color is light yellow with a white head. Aroma is clean with a little bit of spice. Taste is clean as well, with notes of citrus and some mild spiciness from the hops. Well balanced with the malts. Palate is light bodied with medium carbonation. Overall a good "light" beer from RR.

On tap, brewpub. Soft bready notes reminiscent of a helles. Body has snappy effervescence, light throughout. Biscuity notes are forefront, followed by hop bitterness that is exaggerated by the lightness of it all.

On tap at Russian River in August 2009. A: Yellow straw with a nice, light white head and a good deal of lacing; carbonation visible in the brew’s transparency. S: Light and refreshing--some pilsner malt with a bit of citrus and is well-hopped for the style. T: Slightly sweet with some citrus and earthy hops; nothing overpowering, but quite flavorful for the style. M: Light bodied with a good amount of carbonation. D: Excellent. Very sessionable and would love to be able to grab a sixer of this one. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 10-04-2009
