COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale with currants added and aged in oak barrels.

When we made the Toronado’s 20th Anniversary Ale, we had no idea that it would turn out to be one of our favorite barrel aged beers we would ever make. With that said, we have always wanted to make a dark barrel aged beer using 100% Cabernet Sauvignon barrels but, we never were inspired. That is, until we blended five different beers to make the Toronado beer, the tobacco character from the the dark malts blended nicely with the furit character that developed in blending. So, with Concescration we set out to make a barrel beer using all Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. No, we are not saying that this is a replica of the T-rooms anniversary beer, after all, a beer like that can never be duplicated, and, there was no fruit added to that beer as there is with this one. All we are saying is that it gave us great inspiration to brew Consecration.

Pours I deep redish amber, almost like a watered down cab. Poured into a tulip glass. Slight red hue on head that quickly diminishes. Aroma of sour cherry and dark fruit. Slight sweetness that fades into tart candy in the most pleasant way.

Luxurious specialty fruit beer aged on wine barrels. Loose, quickly dissolving, off-white foam, colour a misty brownish copper. Powerful, vinous and very fruity aroma of sherry, cassis, passion fruit, balsamic vinegar, sour cherries, hay, old port wine, tobacco, wood; taste begins with a very lively, opulent fruitiness, sweetish, obviously a lot of cassis with a sharp lemony accent, drying the palate till deep into the finish, all built on a soft, caramelly and chocolatey maltiness, smooth, complex, wood in the finish with very light hoppiness and warming, sherry-like alcohol. Interesting, very vinous beer, almost like a (very strong) ’oud bruin’.

Poured from a bottle. An apology gift bottle! (All is forgiven, Drew). Aroma is of cherries and wine. Great mouthfeel. Tastes of cherries, red wine, dark fruits, yeast, and belgian ale. Yum! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from Bottle into tulip glass. Appearance: Dark amber color, beautiful carbonation streams, and yeast floating around. A firm and smooth one finger head until the bottom of glass. Lovely foam streamers left around the glass. Aroma: More malty than I expected. At first reminded me of a caramel heavy barley wine. Strong sour scent next with strong lemon tones. Dark fruit smell from raisins and prunes. Taste: Lemon warhead candy, red wine, vanilla from oaky wood. Touch of caramel malt in the back ground. This is probably the best sour I have ever had. Mouthfeel: Strong sour cringe, with smooth flow. Carbonation is mild and smooth, and a bit astringent in the back. 10% ABV is noticed in the swallow with minor burn Overall: FANTASTIC! Highly recommend to anyone who can get their hands on it.

Draft at brewery. Nose is a blast of cheery a d grape with a fruit roll up character. Some winey and wood cone through in the flavor. Very acidic and chest burning. Seems to mask the enjoy ability of the fruity expression. Wood really comes through as it warms up.

375ml bottle, bottled on 2/11/14. Very strong red wine aroma with notes of currants. Pours dark brown tinged ruby colored with a thin off-white head and no lacing. Highly carbonated, what head there was initially burned off quickly. Taste starts sweet with currant notes with vinous undertones. Finishes quite tart with a red wine flavored palate that lingers. Very nice sour.

Bottle from Lectvay, thanks again good sir! Wonderful ruby/brown pour. Aromas of wine barrels and berries. Wow this just smells amazing. Flavor is sweet and tart currants. Wonderful acidity and just a touch of oak. Delicious brew. Definitely lives up to the hype.
