3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Felix.
Pours ruby red, a fizzy head rests down to a ring around the edge of the glass.
Aroma has loads of red currants, slight yeast and funk, wet wood, perhaps some leather, slight alcohol.
Taste is a really great blend of tartness, woody dryness and some slight sweetness hidden somewhere in between; currants, cherries, some red wine and earthy bitterness, vingeary tartness, cigar as well?
Medium body, high prickly carbonation, dry mouth feel.
Something strange in the after taste, can’t put my finger on it.
Overall, a very good take on the Flemish red ale!

Great beer. Cellared for four years. The sour flavor is pretty subtle, but it’s there.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
i liked it, but i haven’t had a good bottle of consecration since then. the nose was like creamed black cherries, prickly barnyard and Rodenbach-like flemish red yeast with a heavy wood presence and it seemed to be around 7-8%, but recent bottles are a mess: aspirin/vitamins/minerals/gravel combined with excessive alcohol..

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
This is probably as close to a perfect beer as I’ll get. Pours dark plum with limited head and limited lacing. Nose is black currents and some candy. Flavours of candy, black currents, maybe some strawberries, sour. Taste is light/med sweet medium sour limited bitter. Full sticky body with a long sour aftertaste. Wow.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours ruby mahogny in color with an off-white head. Dark fruits, garden apples, some oak and barrel notes and bit of funky cherries in aroma. Nice one so far and even if it feels quite complex it’s very balanced somehow. The first sip introduces some cherries and dark fruits mixed together with notes of red wine, bit of spices as well. Vinegar and funky notes appears later on. Nice tasting on the whole with some vinous plums and bit of tart fruity notes in the end.
