COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale with currants added and aged in oak barrels.

When we made the Toronado’s 20th Anniversary Ale, we had no idea that it would turn out to be one of our favorite barrel aged beers we would ever make. With that said, we have always wanted to make a dark barrel aged beer using 100% Cabernet Sauvignon barrels but, we never were inspired. That is, until we blended five different beers to make the Toronado beer, the tobacco character from the the dark malts blended nicely with the furit character that developed in blending. So, with Concescration we set out to make a barrel beer using all Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. No, we are not saying that this is a replica of the T-rooms anniversary beer, after all, a beer like that can never be duplicated, and, there was no fruit added to that beer as there is with this one. All we are saying is that it gave us great inspiration to brew Consecration.

Pours a dark ruby color with a fizzing head that quickly dissipates. Tart smell with hints of wine and fruit, mild funk. Incredible taste. Not too boozy. Great sour. Carbonation dies quickly. Goes down smooth. Want want want

375 ml bottle into tulip glass, batch 005X2E. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep ruby red color with a small fairly dense off white head with decent retention, that reduces to a ring of lacing fairly quickly. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big sour cherry, green apple, raisin, plum, fig, red wine, oak, clove, hay, straw, leather, musty funk, light vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity and balance of fruity/funky yeast, oak barrel, and fruit notes; with good strength. Taste of big sour cherry, green apple, raisin, plum, fig, red wine, oak, hay, straw, leather, musty funk, light vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Good amount of fruity/earthy sourness on the finish; with lingering notes of sour cherry, green apple, raisin, plum, fig, red wine, oak, hay, straw, leather, musty funk, light vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity and balance of fruity/funky yeast, oak barrel, and fruit flavors; with a great sweetness/sourness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth, acidic, and lightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome fruited wild ale. All around great complexity and balance of fruity/funky yeast, oak barrel, and fruit flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Pours like a wine. Deep reddish brown body with nearly no head. Highly carbonated. Nose of vinegar, balsamic, sour cherries and wood. Flavour of very very tart. Great cherry base with a lasting acidic finish. Very satisfying. 12.68fl oz bottle. Courtesy of Blomster. Thanks so much Christer!

My God.... This is wonderful. It’s pours an absolutely gorgeous dark plum color, and smells sweet and wonderful. It tastes immediately sour and then settles down so you can enjoy all of the currant and malts. It finishes so smooth, you would never know it is 10%. I love this beer.

Poured from bottle to glass. Copper amber hue with off white fizzy head. Aroma is lactic, oak, sour cherry, wine grapes, acetic, malic. Mouthfeel is great with a medium light body and fizzy carbonation. Taste is dry throughout with tart sourness exploding through the finish and wrapping up with a nice tannin finish. Overall this is an exceptional sour brew!

Great sour. Pours dark with almost no head. The taste is of cherries and currants. The high ABV is hidden well. Overall one of the best and well balanced sours I've had. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tasted from bottle. Pours a dark ruby looking almost identical to a port wine with thin white head that quickly fades. Aroma is very complex. Smells vinous with the Cabernet definitely prominent. Cherry, prune, figs,, plums, brown sugar. Taste is very similar to smell. Moderate to heavy sweetness followed by a moderate sour flavor. I'm not a big sour fan but this is very good. Medium bodied with sticky and clingy mouthfeel. Flavors of cherry, prune, Cabernet. From a guy who is not a big sour fan even I'll admit this is a very complex and tasty beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at brewpub. Pours slightly garnet hued porterish color. Aroma is currants, port, sour cherry, lemon, roast, caramel. So much complexity. Taste is sour cherry, coffee, and roast fading into lemon juice, lemon zest, long finish. Amazing. Probably my favorite regularly available Russian River sour.
