COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale with currants added and aged in oak barrels.

When we made the Toronadoís 20th Anniversary Ale, we had no idea that it would turn out to be one of our favorite barrel aged beers we would ever make. With that said, we have always wanted to make a dark barrel aged beer using 100% Cabernet Sauvignon barrels but, we never were inspired. That is, until we blended five different beers to make the Toronado beer, the tobacco character from the the dark malts blended nicely with the furit character that developed in blending. So, with Concescration we set out to make a barrel beer using all Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. No, we are not saying that this is a replica of the T-rooms anniversary beer, after all, a beer like that can never be duplicated, and, there was no fruit added to that beer as there is with this one. All we are saying is that it gave us great inspiration to brew Consecration.

From a 12 oz bottle there is no head at all. Cloudy reddish-brown. The aroma is faint for me. Canít place it. A little bit of lemon? Medium to heavy sour at first, but mellows as the ale warms ... tart berries come to mind. Very lively, almost fizzy carbonation that softens after a bit. This has been my first venture into sour ales, and itís definitely "different" for me. I canít compare it to others having had no experience. And while I can definitely say that this is not my favorite style of beer, at the same time Iím surprised by how much Iím enjoying this brew, more and more with each new sip.

Compliments of my bro Bytemesis! Bottle pours a reddish brown with a thin ice tea head. Aromas of cherry, oak barrel, and distinct Cabernet. Flavor is intensely complex sour and tart cherries. You do not drink this, you experience it. Yum.

Bottle from Felix. Pours ruby red, a fizzy head rests down to a ring around the edge of the glass. Aroma has loads of red currants, slight yeast and funk, wet wood, perhaps some leather, slight alcohol. Taste is a really great blend of tartness, woody dryness and some slight sweetness hidden somewhere in between; currants, cherries, some red wine and earthy bitterness, vingeary tartness, cigar as well? Medium body, high prickly carbonation, dry mouth feel. Something strange in the after taste, canít put my finger on it.
Overall, a very good take on the Flemish red ale!

On tap at Russian River. Pours slightly porterish color. Aroma is port, sour cherry, lemon, roast, caramel. So much complexity. Taste is sour cherry, coffee, and roast fading into lemon juice, lemon zest, long finish.

10/14/2014. From bottle. Medium brown with a tan head. Funky sour aromas with hints of wine and oak. Not overly sour, but very balanced and complex. Truly an awesome beer.

i liked it, but i havenít had a good bottle of consecration since then. the nose was like creamed black cherries, prickly barnyard and Rodenbach-like flemish red yeast with a heavy wood presence and it seemed to be around 7-8%, but recent bottles are a mess: aspirin/vitamins/minerals/gravel combined with excessive alcohol..

This is probably as close to a perfect beer as Iíll get. Pours dark plum with limited head and limited lacing. Nose is black currents and some candy. Flavours of candy, black currents, maybe some strawberries, sour. Taste is light/med sweet medium sour limited bitter. Full sticky body with a long sour aftertaste. Wow.
