COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale with currants added and aged in oak barrels.

When we made the Toronado’s 20th Anniversary Ale, we had no idea that it would turn out to be one of our favorite barrel aged beers we would ever make. With that said, we have always wanted to make a dark barrel aged beer using 100% Cabernet Sauvignon barrels but, we never were inspired. That is, until we blended five different beers to make the Toronado beer, the tobacco character from the the dark malts blended nicely with the furit character that developed in blending. So, with Concescration we set out to make a barrel beer using all Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. No, we are not saying that this is a replica of the T-rooms anniversary beer, after all, a beer like that can never be duplicated, and, there was no furit added to that beer as there is with this one. All we are saying is that it gave us great inspiration to brew Consecration.

RR seem to have these beers down to an art. Consecration is a perfect example, Looks a nice fruity brown/red colour and smells tart on the aroma. The taste is all there, tart, sour, love the wine flavour, one of the best!

375 ml bottle from Supermarket Liquors. Deep reddish appearance with a small, dissipating white head. The aroma is nice and tart with notes of dark fruits, wood and light red wine. Similar flavor, sour, fruity and dry. No sign of the 10% ABV. Very nice!

Bottle courtesy of Homer321. Pours a dark ruby and brown color with a quickly disappearing white head. Aromas are forest floor, leather, brett and rum raisin. Flavors are tart raspberry, blackberry and some grape flavors with a strong tannic flavor that reminds me of grape skins over a very nice brett sour characteristic. The mouthfeel is perfect with tons of carbonation to lighten this heavy ABV beer. Overall, this is a superb beer that leaves a long grass and grape/apple skin aftertaste that reminds me of my wine drinking days, excellent!

Pours dark reddish brown with a fizzy white head that recedes to a ring instantly. Aroma is oak, red wine, and sour fruit. The taste is tart sour cherries, oak, tannins, tobacco, and bitter, sour fruit. Nice carbonation and really smooth on the palate. Delicious.

Batch-005X2E A - Pours a dark ruby brown color with an off-white head. S - Red wine comes out strong along with lots of clean wood. Dried cherries, musty old church-like funk. T - Sweet/sour cherries, tart raspberry quickly overtakes any sweetness with a lactic acidic bite. Malty sweetness barely bleeds through with notes of faint cocoa. The finish is a sensation of having plum/grape skins on your tongue along with a sharp punch of acidic sour right at the end. M - Low prickly carbonation, thin body. Wine and wood are strong components. Sharp and sour with lots of tart fruit character and was nice to have some good funk in there as well. This would go great with grilled goat cheese filled mushrooms. Serving type: bottle 04-22-2011

Bottle. Rarely do I spring for a bottle this expensive (probably overpaid but sometimes beer lover's impulse strikes) but I do not regret it one bit. I am new to sours (and became a fan thanks to The Bruery's Sour in the Rye), and the balance of this brew is just perfect looking forward to Supplication next!

Batch 2 bottle - what can I say that my score don’t say. This is one amazing beer. Aged to perfection, perfect balance of sour. Beautiful color. Currant and wine and age = perfect beer!

Deep red pour with a thin head. Long oak taste. Hints of charddonnay. Oak and vanilla. Aroma is sharp. Lots of sour notes. This is very drinkable and tasty. Light mouth. Probably the best sour I’ve had of this style.
