COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is our brewmaster’s interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth.

Editor’s Note: this entry is for all batches EXCEPT batches 23, 46 and 69 see separate entry.

Bottle. Golden in colour. Aroma is citric, hoppy and yeasty. The palate shows some lively carbonation, with some citric yeastyness and some grassy hop notes, with a slightly warming, peppery/spicy finish, quite flowery, with some light apricot fruit notes. very pleasant.

draft: very enjoyable beer...would go really well with white meats. the aroma consisted of small notes of banana and spices. The flavor is sweet (not overly) and it isn’t ruined by a sour vineuos flavor which some BSA are. The palate was smooth and clean.

kramer (5360) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 9, 2006
25 oz bottle, Batch 8, via IrishBoy. Pours a clear bright gold colored body under a two finger fizzy white head that faded to a thin film and left great lacing. Aroma is of light bready malt with some lemongrass, yeast, peach, marshmellow, light alcohol, and bananas. The flavor is fairly light up front, just some light pale maltiness, grapefruit, and lemon. The finish is rather dry, rather bitey, with a good amount of alcohol apparency for an only 7% ABV beer. Mouthfeel is very highly carbonated with a light to medium body. A very unique beer to say the least. It came across as sort of a Triple / Belgian Golden Ale combination to me.

750 ml brown, Belgian style bottle. Batch number 007, if that makes a difference. Corked & caged. Poured out a light golden yellow color, with a thick, meringue like tan colored head. Served in a Chimay chalice. Full effect of aromas are present. Pears, dried fruits, some slight apple notes, along with slight citrus & sweet caramel malts in the aromas. Very slight nutmeg in the background. Flavors are a wonderful mix of dried tropical fruits, along with Bartlett pears, black pepper, slight citrus fruits, and earthy hops. Medium mouthfeel, thick & rich body. Damned good take on the style if you ask me.

Bottle, batch 007 (thanks to Todd V.). Bright honey color with a thin white head. Nose is sweet and a tad malty, with cider notes and some yeast. Nice bright flavor, with decent bitterness and pleasant yeast hints. Also nice floral notes with a pleasant freshness. Great mouthfeel, smooth and refreshing and nicely carbonated. A nice take on a belgian, very triple-esque.

Thanks realale420 for the bottle trade. pours a straw color with a three finger head with high carbonation. Aroma is spicy with banana esters. Taste has a light creamy mouthfeel with tastes of spices, pear and straw. Slight bitterness that lingers for a short period. Nice belgian ale.

Lots of overripe fruit, spice, medicine, alcohol, banana and some metal. Good overall, a nice, rounded Belgian.

A fantastic replica of a strong belgium amber ale. i love this beer. its only drawback is its light body and its abrupt end. a great but subtle taste of citrus

Bottle. Thanks to realale420. Pours a heady golden color. Lots of lingering frothy goodness. Aroma is sweet, earthy, flowery and spicy. Flavor is very much the same with notes of banana clove and some spice followed by bready malts. A real nice balance to this beer. Not my favorite style, but a damn good example.
