In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is our brewmaster’s interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth.

Cold 750ml corked bottle: Pours a cloudy dark golden color with a small, fluffy ivory head that dissolves. Aroma is of sweet malt, grass and fruitstuffs. Taste is sweet at first, then bitter and dry with an acidic and sour ending.

Thanks to Kook. Golden yellow body with a medium size head. Fruity citrus taste, better balaced than the previous beer on the night, nice dry finish.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2010 Golden with a lasting white head. Fruity and spicy aroma with pepper and pineapple dominating. REALLY well used Belgian yeast here... Dry and spicy flavour with herbal hops. Like an even slightly tastier Delirium Tremens...

UPDATED: JUL 19, 2007 Well, this is certainly a nice golden strong ale. Spicy aroma but pretty tasty and would certainly have again.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 6 Oct) Golden yellow colour with white head. Fruity nose, slightly acidic, with notes of tropical fruit and Anjou pears. Fruity, spicy taste with notes of pears and banana. Slightly fiery (goes with the name I suppose). Nice beer (and can I really resist a beer with the same name as an Opeth record? Probably not).

[Bottled. SBWF, Stockholm] Golden colour. Estery, spicy aroma. Good body with a fair amount of caramel. Balanced, yet with a super long bitterness. Almond paste. Herbs. Thick body.

Poured a straw colored yellow with a whispy lacing white head. Very floral aroma, slightly bitter smelling. Slithgly malty, slightly bitter flavor. Fruity like pears and pineapple. Extremely bitter, acidic and astringent finish in the throat. Could have been better.

750ml - thanks Irishboy - Aroma is yeasty bubblegum and banana. Some earthy hop funkiness as well. Pours transparent gold with cascading bubbles and a huge head, great sticky lacing. Flavor matches aroma with a bit more grassy hoppiness. Palate is creamy, clean, and dry. I was initially not too impressed, but as I kept drinking it, the complexity and depth began to show changing my aroma and flavor scores. A nice brew.
