In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is our brewmaster’s interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth.

"Batch 007 Poured a lighter golden color with solid head and great lacing. Aroma was strong bananas, apple and candi sugar. Flavor was not what i expected, didn’t taste the stong banana aroma in there at all. Hops dominated not much maltyness to it. "

Sort of a Duvel-light. Gold color. Large white head. Heavily carbonated. Dry, chalky, and a light, sweet aftertaste.

Yeast and dust in the nose, hazy light gold color, fluffy white head. Creamy malt with hints of apples and a flowery note too. Yeast and peppery spice end. Soft texture and a good balance. Thanks Saarlander.

A tasty beer. Not goin crazy over it but certainly quite tasty. I am hard to please in the belgian department, so this does alright. All of the flavors do go well together for a tasty beer. Has the typical sweet yeasty banana flavor of a belgian

On tap at the Tap House in Norfolk. Clear golden pear colored; light layer of foam. Nice perfume of honeysuckle and clover. Yummy melony banana with some lemon at the end. Light carb and medium light body; a little tart. Pretty damn good for a light Belgian and American to boot.

750 ml corked and caged from batch 007. Big props to Oakes for sending this my way. Gorgeous luminescent, completely transparent golden brew. Lasting fine-laced white head. Aroma is initially sweet and spicy, with a very soft yeast, candi sugar, light dustiness, apricots and some soft pear/apple notes. There is also some notable spicy hop aromas in here. Lots of aromas with perfect balance amongst all of them. Flavour is much maltier than is typical of most beers in this style. Loads of honeyish malt sweetness up front before some nice apricot and pear flavours add complexity. Soft and subtle yeasty spice flavour appear before some nice orange citrus peel makes an appearance. Despite all of the sweet descriptors, the beer finishes dry enough to make you crave another mouthfull immediately. Absolutely gorgeous brew.

Bottle (Cantillon Open Brewing Day): Golden in colour. Smooth warming feel. Nice fruits balanced with dry biscuity malt flavours. A little yeasty, but still very drinkable.

Bottled: Yellow unclear. White dense head. Yeasty, sweet and woody brew. Has some fruitnotes. Spices are present but not dominant. Quite smooth and easy to drink. Ends on a sweet and spiced note.

Very pale gold with a little orange shine; disparate, very white head. I get some apricot, sugar, straw and faraway plywood. Sweet - but woody, very discreet. Finish is dry woody, like oak that’s nearly completely eaten out; also something distinctly vegetal. Quite sticky MF, well bodied, not really thick and a bit of alcoholwarming. Nice, but compared to the Supplication, extremely discreet, nearly shy. The balance, however, is near perfect.
