JohnQPublic (387), Brooklyn, New York, USA Nov 27, 2008 Bottle into chalice, batch 041. Pours hazy gold, with an effervescent white head. Nose is yeasty, a bit of pear and apricot, with a creamy sweetness underneath. Flavor is front-loaded with a big yeast presence – tangy and a bit dry, with golden fruit notes coming out again. Finish dries up a bit more, some more yeast, some alcohol esters as well. Mouthfeel is smooth and soft, but with a bit of crispness, medium bodied. Really nice beer – one of those that gets better the farther into the bottle you get. RSRIZZO (1340), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Nov 27, 2008 Color is a bright gold with good carbonation and a small white head. Aroma is a fruity Belgian yeast scent with a faint skunk note in the back. Taste is smooth, fruity and spicy. Starting with a light/medium body it goes down smooth. Finish comes in with a fruity taste that is almost peach like with vanilla and yeast notes then a hint of coriander and clove. After taste is clean with just a touch of bitterness. Overall I think its a great Belgian style Golden Ale. robforbes (1083), Bremerton, Washington, USA Nov 26, 2008 pours a semi-clear golden yellow with a medium white foamy head, and good lacing.
smell is faint, some apricot, and some spice.
taste is of sweet fruit, hops, spice, barely, has an oily mouth-feel, end is slightly dry and a wee bit bitter.
overall a above average brew.
daknole (2802), Plantation, Florida, USA Nov 26, 2008 Bottle from Brewtopia. Light gold/yellow color, that is cloudy. Aoma is somewhat hoppy, funky, yeast, and some spices. Flavor is yeasty, fruity, malty with a nice dose of hops as well. Not bad at all. Avengedpoet (325), Mesa, Arizona, USA Nov 20, 2008 Batch 41 from Pizza Port bottle shop. Pours really light golden straw color. Quickly dissipating head. Aroma of Pils malt and light noble hops. Very little Belgian flavor, which was a surprise to me. Very light and dry. Cold this beer tasted almost like a high alcohol Bud with a faint hop twang at the end. Really opens up as it warms. Begins to take on some tangy qualities, some citrusy/pear notes. Reminds me of Triple Karleliet, but without the oat taste. Decent, but still somewhat of a disappointment. Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Nov 20, 2008 light color with some light sweet aroma, slight clove spicy and light fruit, a summer quencher for the sophisticated palate nbutler11 (729), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Nov 20, 2008 Batch 39 from Lone Hill. Pours a rich hay color from the bomber with a firm white head and plenty of sediment. Loaded with yeast, citrus, and faint cream. Heartier, and certainly more aggressive, than it looks. Well done. nick76 (2634), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 3, 2008 Thanks to Unrulythings. The aroma is yeasty and sweet with light fruit, malt, and cloves. The appearance is golden with a nice head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. A winner.
