Nik925 (300), California, USA Jun 2, 2008 Updated: Feb 15, 2009Perfect color and smell of banana yeast deliciousness. Perfect palate. Slap of clove spiciness completely hides its ABV yet still allow the mild bitterness to come out. To top it off, the malt is delicious and blends perfectly. Achieves perfection if enjoyed a bit warmer than normal. A highlight of Nor-Cal craft beer. haggis03a3 (132), Piedmont, California, USA May 29, 2008 Bottle. Cloudy light golden color and a lasting white head. Aroma of fruit and banana, Belgian yeast spices, sweet malt, wheat, earthy hops. Flavor is very balanced - sweet, tart, bitter. The palate is amazingly smooth. Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA May 27, 2008 Sampled at Hellbilly’s Hellraiser II. 750ml bottle. Pours a clear amber with one finger white head. Nose is Belgian spice, yeast and cloves. Palate is yeast, cloves, hops, dark fruits and a touch of banana. Medium mouth feel. Not a huge fan of the style but this is a decent representative of it. rustychiles (997), Mesa, Arizona, USA May 26, 2008 Sampled at Hellbillys Hellraiser II.
Pours a golden hazy with a nice white head. Aroma of hops, malt, yeast. Flavor of fruit, yeast, spices. Pretty good Belgian Strong Ale. kyzr (1119), Belgrade, Montana, USA May 25, 2008 Bright gold pour with wonderful white thick head. Nose of yeast, fruit and some grain. Flavor is sweet of yeast, spice, and fruit. Nice carbination that scrubs off your palate of what ever you had before. skoisirius (570), Seattle, Washington, USA May 22, 2008 2005 vintage tasted on 5/17/08 thanks to derkruk and crew! I’ve also tasted this brew fresh. Mellowing out a bit on the hops and gathering a nicely rounded out malt flavor is what 2.5 - 3 years will do to this Belgian style pale. Fully carbonated still, and sliding smoothly across the palate, the flavors of dry fruit and hops, spices and malts continue to explode with joy as they go down the gullet. It’s worth the wait! TeamTrappist (362), jericho, New York, USA May 20, 2008 Updated: May 26, 2008750ml bottle. Poured a slightly cloudy light gold with no head. Definitely a yeasty and malty belgian nose. Medium bodied mouthful with a decent amount of carbonation. Very drinkable, and very tasty.Fruity and spicey and very delicious. The kind of beer that I would like to drink more frequently. Was a nice compliment to the slightly spicy pasta dish I had it with. It has an almost creamy feel to it with a spicy and peppery finish. emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA May 19, 2008 Got this from South Bay, what a sweet store. Pours a straw gold with some orange hues. The head is a finger or two thick, creamy, and white. The nose is typically Belgian, a tad sweet, dry, musty and earthy, light citrus, lemongrass, also some pepper in there (GOP?). The flavor is sharp and spicy, alcohol is a little evident, very dry flavor, earthy Belgian tones. Mouthfeel is very dry and spicy, man it feels like there is GOP in here. Finishes dry and waxy with some alcohol. Nice Belgian, just a bit overwhelmingly spicy.
