Commercial Description:
In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is our brewmaster’s interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth.

Don’t get me wrong, it fits the bill perfectly. I think the Belgian Blondes are just all tasting the same. Very much like Chimay Blanc - very fruity nose ending on a bitter note.

Pours a hazy golden color with huge foamy white head. Aroma is of crisp fruits like apple, banana and pear as well as hops and alcohol. Very crisp quaffable beer. Lots of citrusy lemon and orange as wll as apple, pear and banana. Finish is slightly hoppy and dry. An amazingly smooth wonderful tasting beer!

Rerate at tasting courtesy of Humulone Red. Thanks! Perfectly gold colored pour with a white head. Smell is honey, and some malted wheat like sweetness for some reason. Taste is rich tart and sweet with some balancing hops and a belgian yeasty character. Hint of dusty funk in the finish. Overall, not stellar but good.

Pours a cloudy yellow, thick bubbly head. Strong acidic citrus aroma/ lemon zest and honey wheat. Tangy citrus flavor with some wheat and bitter hops. Palate is a little thin, but tolerable, and well balanced.

This is wonderful and absolutely one of the best Belgain strong ales I’ve ever had, if not the best. It’s a bright gold with a pretty big, dense white head that lasts very long and leaves decent lace. The aroma is rich, fruity, flowery, a definite Belgian-ale aroma but a bit more hoppy, flowery, citrusy, and complex. The taste is similar: it tastes like a Belgian strong ale such as Delirium, Tremens or Duvle, but has more complexity, more hoppy-citrusy-flowery character and a little more bitterness, with grain, hints of spice, nuts, pears, and honey, It’s wonderful.

on tap at the brew pub in santa rosa. pours a mostly clear gold with a moderate white head. nose of nutty malts, spice-laden pears, some wood. the taste starts off just like that, then kicks in with a healthy dose of piney and earthy hops. moderate lingering earthy bitterness, with light sweetness. medium of body, and a lot of bubbliness. mouthfeel is resinous and coating, rather like an ipa, but maybe a bit more slippery. a very nice, rather unique ale.
