Commercial Description:
In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is our brewmaster’s interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth.

Jan. 2007 - Pale golden color with little head or lacing. Fruity aroma and flavor with some spices. Almost like a saison with no funk. Strong spice and hop presence. Enjoyable...but not worth the freaking $12/bottle or whatever ungodly price I paid.

Pours gold into a Trappist glass. Fluffy bright white head quickly recedes to skim surface leaving spot lacing. Golden saaz hop aromas. Crisp bananas and orange upfront with a lasting bitter Euro hop finish.

Clear golden with a white head. Mostly a spicy earthy smell spot on belgian. Medium body with healthy carbonation. A pale malt grainy taste up front turns bittersweet in the middle. Bitterness takes over leading to a medium dry finish. A Damn fine ale here. 21206

Batch #32. Tons of thanks to Naka for sharing this bottle. Peach and brett nose, with loads of sweet sugar, bubblegum, and cotton candy. Cloudy gold with floaties and off white head. Tastes funky with a sour back, oranges, pears, and lemons. Super super dry finish that’s clean and crisp. Not as bretty as I expected. Honestly, this tasted like a saison to me, and a great one at that.

750 ml bottle, Batch 32, courtesy of Naka split with Exec Board. Pours straw yellow w/ white head, small, rimming, and fizzy. Sweet, sugary cotton candy-esque noste with a touc hof butter and caramel. Taste is sweet, with notes of lemon and other citrus. Some funk twang present. Dry finish with slight bitterness. Tasted like an IPA minus the hop bitterness, or more correctly, saison-y because of the fruit and spice. Very good stuff. Thanks, Naka

Sampled from 750 (batch #32), courtesy of Naka. Cotton candy nose, with orange blossom, yeast and a bit of funk. Like a nice spicy saison in the aroma, peppery with mild bubblegum. Hazy golden amber with off-white lacing head and some fairly large chunks of sediment floating around. Medium body with medium carbonation. Really nice taste to this one, like a saison, really. Spicy with pepper and Brett, yeasty. Mild sweet orange peel and coriander. Nice bitter finish with yeasty chalkiness and bitter after. Nice ale.
