In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is our brewmaster’s interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth.

Poured from a bottle. Pours a pale straw yellow with a thin white ring. Light carbonation. Aroma of tart, tangy, bready yeast. Smooth, clean and crisp with notes of yeast, some spice and a slightly dry finish. Flavors don’t linger very long. Reminds me of a Weizenbier or a Witbier. Ok but not worth $11.50 a bottle.

Pours light yellow. Big white and foamy top. Beautiful lacings. Belgian yeast comes out strong, creamy koogelmoogel. Taste is funky, sweet and bitter yeast also there. Sweet but not really strong, soft Belgian... Super flavourful but probably full pint would take some time to finish. From Russian River.

Bottled 10.21.15. Yeast game strong, belgian esters, pear, light banana, tropical, mango, vanilla pudding (yeast), light black pepper. Faint honey, lemon, pound cake. Very low herbal hopiness. Reminiscent of a GI Sofie.

What do you do when you get a sudden urge for a blond beer? Check your fridge and crack out a Russian River Damnation of course! Thanks goes out to Maek for hooking me up with this 7.75% beauty.

Served in a teku glass it pours a clear gold with a dospy head of white foam that lingers the aroma features lovely crackery light malts, white pepper, pear and mild funk. Wonderful.

The mouthfeel is exceptionally soft on a light body, the finish is dry but it’s full of flavor. Banana, funk, wheat crackers, pepper just yummy. Yep this was just what I was jonesing for.
