beerbill (1917), Laurel, New York, USA Nov 24, 2007 750 ml bottle, Batch 021, courtesy of a tarde with dirty-martini. Pours a clear gold with a large, fluffy white head that is continuously fed by many small carbonation bubbles. Laces the glass very nicely. Pleasant aroma of sugar, lemons, and some floral hops. The flavor follows the aroma with some light sugar sweetness, a bit of lemon, and some herbal/floral notes from the hops. Lively on the tongue from the carbonation, with some very light bitterness at the finish. This beer goes down way too easily for a 7% abv beer! Good stuff. piscator34 (1121), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Nov 12, 2007 Bottled sample via oakbluff. Gold in colour with moderate carbonation. Aromas of spicy citrus fruit, herbal hops, black pepper, and alcohol. Flavors are of light maltsm more pepper, and some green-herbal hops. Spritzy in the mouth with some alcohol heat. Very tripel-like. Nice. hellbilly (1492), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Nov 12, 2007 mesa gathering. thanks to hopheadinaz...batch 10. cloudy yellow/orange with a monsterly aggressive head (it really wanted out) very faint aroma (even when warm) of brown sugar, citrus and an alcohol burn/spiciness?. flavor is a bit yeasty with orange, lemon tartness, green apple and some earthy funk. finishes crisp and dry with lingering spice. medium bodied with a creamy texture and lively carbonation. reminds me of a crisp light oaked chardonnay... drfabulous (1211), Columbia, Missouri, USA Nov 10, 2007 Tart. Golden ale. Banana. Very strong and nice ale aroma. My first Russian River - ordered from Joey in S.D. Well worth the wait. csbosox (1076), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Nov 7, 2007 Updated: Jul 12, 2008GABF 2006-Chardonnay oak aroma with residual sweetness. Taste is akin to white wine. The rest of the notes are too hard to read.
RE-RATE Hazy gold color. Aroma is spicy with apples, pears, and spice. Light brett. Taste is pepper, spicy, brett, honey. Nice mouthfeel. Suliman (2), USA does not count Oct 30, 2007 Very good ale with good aroma and color. Flavor was good with some fruit and earthy flavors. Alcohol taste not overwhelming. Floback (333), Naples, Florida, USA Oct 24, 2007 Love this brewery. Got this shipped all the way from California by Hi Time Wines. Pours a creamy fingernail of white head over an effervescent lager-gold body. Tight webbings of lace. Nose is pepper and estery wheat. Tastes are similar with a hint of citrus and vanilla, more banana, biscuits, and clove. High carbonation and medium/full body. Rounded and smooth mouthfeel in the finish with flavors of crisp green apple. Very drinkable. Not as memorable as most other RR brews. Nonetheless, if Hell’s beer is like this, I need to commit more crimes in this life. jeremytoni (1067), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Oct 22, 2007 From tap poured a ambercolor with a fair amount of head. Flavor of a malty abbey ale with a smooth lingering aftertaste.
