drawde (115), San Francisco, California, USA May 14, 2007 Light golden-orange color and clear. Lots of carbonation (by appearance and taste). Thin head but good lacing. Smells like lemongrass. The taste is light, citrus and banana flavors. Nice on the palate, right amount of light, bitter aftertaste. Golden/Blonde ales are usually not a style I go for but this is a superb, very drinkable beer that I won’t avoid. (Another thought: my girlfriend hates the bitter IPAs and dark porters that I drink. When she drinks beer, she usually picks a light, mainstream lager. But I bet she would love this--its got so much more going for it than a lager.) DubC (8), Tucson, Arizona, USA does not count May 14, 2007 Color was pale gold with a nice head. Taste was citrus, but had a thin though smooth body. The finish was dry, bitter, and abrupt. oakbluff (298), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada May 11, 2007 Poured into my Damnation tulip glass that I ordered avec beer. Lovely straw colored golden hue. Head was nice and full. Aroma - sweet belgian candi sugar. Taste and mouthfeel- creamy mouthfeel, with the belgian candi rolling off the tongue. Light and fruity- some white grape and subdued wood. Finishes dry with a hint of hops. Upon futher reflection, the finish is very dry with some booze present. There is a touch of sourness, but quite minimal. A very solid beer from a great American brewer.

Golden yellow. crisp belgian yeasty smell. lemons and bananas. Lots of malt creaminess. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA May 5, 2007 Updated: Jun 19, 2007Bottle: Hazy yellow pour with a dense creamy white head. The aroma is extremely Belgian-like. Yeasty, esters, citrus (lemon), almost a floral like hint. The flavor is bright and clean. Creamy body with almost sweet dough like hints. Also has citrus in the flavor with evident orange peel, a peppery coriander spiciness in the middle and a late smooth bitterness. A nice Belgian Ale. hapjydeuce (763), Del Mar, California, USA May 5, 2007 Definitely one of the better strong Belgian goldens I have had. Russian River has their s*** together. I gave appearance a 5 due to a massive pillowy head that lasted pretty much all the way through the first glass, with great lacing. Fruity aroma of pear, bit of mango, packed with banana and light malts. I was expecting a bit more on the flavor after experiencing the aroma. Dominated mostly by Belgian yeast flavors, pear, orange peel, lemon and finishing in bready & earthy malts. A bit of hoppy bitterness at the end too. Medium palate, lots of carbonation. Kind of acidic ending, didnt like that part. badlizard (2324), Berkeley, California, USA May 3, 2007 Updated: Mar 5, 2009Sweet aroma of pears and spices. Smooth lively palate. Taste of malt, citrus, and something that reminds me of tobacco. Finishes smooth, dry, and slightly bitter with a lasting perfumy spiceness. mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA May 1, 2007 Pours a cloudy golden orange with a big, fluffy, white head. Smells of orange citrus, coriander, slight acidity, and other spices. Alot going on flavor-wise. Alot more cinnamon than I expected. Very spicy. Big coriander flavor as well, with that small hint of sourness in true Russian River fashion. Really easy drinking with nice flavor. I like this brew.
