8/20/2009: Russian River Damnation Golden Ale... Aroma: Light fruits, delicate hoppiness. Appearance: Golden color, slightly hazy, some sediment suspended in it. Flavor: A nice blend of sweet and dry, spice and fruit; very welcoming on the palate. Palate: Medium to medium-full, mild carbonation. Overall: Quite good, very easy to drink, very good for the style.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 16, 2009 Pours a pale yellow with a massive head forming. The aroma was light, fruity, almost crips. The flavor started out the same as the aroma, light and fruity. There was a bit of bread-like flavors. Then there was this really off taste that came through and really dominated. It wasn’t horrible, but if definitely detracted from the overall experience. I probably ended up with a bad bottle. A shame too as I’d been looking forward to this one. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2009 Smooth refined beer with a nice bitter dropoff and some sweet fruit tones but not the peppery knockout beer I expected to find. It has a nice body, don’t get me wrong, and is well balanced. The oak seems to lather up the finish. But I was hoping for something more complex. CheersMate1 (785), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2009 666! Ahhh...mark of the beast. I chose this because well I wonder...aren’t we all damned!? Anyways, 750 ml bottle picked up at the local QFC. Orange/gold/yellow haze appearance. Very big head that settles down into a smaller head, but the head is still there. ARoma is fruit with some yeast. Subtle sweet candy flavor. This to me doesn’t have that heavy yeast aroma/flavor of most Belgian ales. This one seems a bit more mild. Not overly carbonated. I like this one because it is a bit more relaxed than some of the other Belgians that I have had. Pretty good, but not the best. I do enjoy Russian River beers, but their sours are the best. This Belgian is good, but it is more mild than others. WhatNewinBooze (15), Centennial, Colorado, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Aug 11, 2009 Belgium beers have been sought after for centuries. In the great beer producing country of Belgium the brewers have made some what of a tradition to give their brews an unusual name. Sometimes the names are curious, other times diabolical and then again they can just be silly. The Russian River Brewery out of California has prided themselves on their Belgium style ales and have out done themselves with the Damnation. This Belgium strong golden ale is 7.0% ABV, has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter, but very very smooth.
