Cletus (4999), Connecticut, USA Dec 27, 2006 Pours gold with a generous lasting white head. Smells of bananas, citrus, some herbal qualities in the background. Tastes of bananas, coriander, peppery hops and random spiciness. Finish is light and tingly. Maybe it’s because this is a follow up to a great beer, but this didn’t pack the punch most of their other offerings do. bikesandbeers (468), Los Angeles, California, USA Dec 25, 2006 On tap @ Stone Bistro in Escondido. Maybe I expected too much from this beer, but it didn’t think it was anything too special. Medium gold with a thin white head. sweet aroma. Flavor was light and uninteresting. This was my first Russian River beer, and i was expecting a lot more. Not a bad beer, but doesn’t measure up to great Belgians. TipsyMcStager (900), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Dec 18, 2006 nice fruity, spicy yeast aroma. Pours golden yellow, floaties, slightly cloudy. Smooth sweetness. Dry finish. presario (2953), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Dec 18, 2006 Hazy gold with a fizzy head. Nice spice aroma. Peppery flavour. It is a nice Golden Ale but fell short of style leaders. I found the body a little light and the flavour a little flat. WeeHeavySD (2940), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Dec 17, 2006 Updated: Oct 19, 20089 Liter batch 20 at Ham’s 2nd Anniversary party, exceptional.
On tap at the Live Wire in San Diego, CA. Cloudy straw color with a small thin head. The nose is light and sweet with a typical belgian ale scent. The taste was dissappointing with much more feeling of a belgian wheat then a belgian strong. Possibly influenced by having Pliny the Elder first. AllAboutStout (605), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Dec 14, 2006 Drank from my Duvel chalice. Pours a golden color with a huge head. Took a while for the head to recede enough to drink.
Has a somewhat fruity/wine like smell in the nose.
Taste is very good. Smooth and creamy, and you can taste the vinous, wine like characteristics. This is a very good tasting beer. Very enjoyable and I hope that most of the Belgain Pale Ales that I have yet to try are this good.
If you haven’t tried this one, It’s worth getting your hands on one. weeare138 (933), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 14, 2006 On tap at Capone’s in Norristown...
Appears a light gold with a small, soapy white head that quickly fades out. Small spots of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of light fruit highlighted with mild banana esters and spice. A remnant of doughy yeast comes through with gentle pepper aromatics and a touch of earthy spice.
Taste is similar to the aromas with a large base of pils malt filling out the flavor that’s complimented by light fruit and spices.
Mouthfeel is smooth, semi-sweet for the most part with a light, mild bitter bite at the end. nolankowal (850), Columbus, Ohio, USA Dec 10, 2006 Bottle shared by sliffy, thanks! Pours a hzy gold with a frothy, bubbly white head. Aroma of lemon zest, lemon, some funk, yeast and corriander. Flavor of lemon zest, corriander yeast and some spices. Lively carbonation, smooth throughout with a spicy/somewhat bitter finish.
