In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is our brewmaster’s interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth.

Tap at brewery..\ Pours a lemony gold. Not hazy, but cloudy enough you can’t see through. A bright white head on top, thin, but sticks around a while. The nose picks up nice flavors. Honey, lemon, grass, pear, pepper. Tastes follow the lead of the smell. Honey and lemon dance on the tongue, pepper plays a minor role. Sweetness hits first, but it’s just the right amount. The back of the tongue is where the party starts. Spicy, tart, slightly bitter, tangy, all at once. The finish is dry and cleansing. Ok... wish it was sour.

Rating from notes. Batch 67 .375L pours ginger-ale golden-orange with an aroma of cloves and hay and a thin mottled head of medium bubbles. The taste is lightly bubble gum and cloves and hay. Smooth and crisp with a lightly sticky bitter finish.

Cloudy, light golden pour with a light head. Kind of winey aroma, not at all unpleasant. Tastes like flowers and grape, a bit of familiar Belgian spice. Nice long, dry finish with a peculiar and interesting balance. Very, very good. Would I drink again? yes. Would I order again? yes please!

Pours golden (as the style would suggest) with a fluffy, foamy white head that sits atop for quite some time. Aroma is earthy, with hints of hay in a barn. Taste is initially coriander, some lemon then sweet malts, almost Pilnser-ish, with a slightly warming and spicy finish.

Sept. 8, 2014. Bottle from SF purchased two years ago. Golden yellow colour with big white head. Strong white wine aroma, smelled it across the way while it was being poured. Sweet grape and peach flavours. Extremely smooth mouthfeel, quite lovely.
