4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From a growler, Pours a slightly hazy golden color wth a thick white head that leaves spotty lacing. Smells of Belgian yeast, dough, banana, and spices. Tastes of spices, pear, banana Belgian yeast, and is slightly peppery with a decent hop presence for a Belgian Ale. Mouthfeel is medium and surupy, with pretty good carbonation. Overall this is one of my favorite Belgian golden ales. Too bad I don?t have regular access to it anymore since RR pulled their distribution out of this state

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a hazy golden apricot with a solid quilt of fine light cream foam. Smells of belgian yeast, grain, bread, hints of tangerine, some clay and a bit of sweetness. Flavor has a clean belgian golden flavor with plenty grain, fruity grapy esters, some banana, a bit of funk and some peach. Body is heavier than I’d prefer with a decent sharp and yet soft carb with an overall creamy feel. Nice beer.

Hazy golden pour with a white head. Aromas of dough and spice. Flavor is similar with the malt really coming out nicely with just a touch of earthy hops. Finish is smooth with some yeast notes. Very nice.

Pours a mostly clear, light orange color. Sweet malt, pils, light Belgian yeast phenolics. Light, sweet, malty, corny-like, mild Belgian character in he flavor.

Cloudy yellow pour from a cork and caged bottle. Almost one year old, sent to me by Mike in CA. Subtle grapefruit and melon nose. Crisp refreshing some citrus. Finishes very dry, a little astringent, tannic and some bitterness as well.

First had on tap at Russian River Brewery later from a bottle into a pint glass a gorgeous lemon yellow color with a white head.
Aroma of that barnyard funk I love about Belgium brews.
Taste is true banana malt love. Malty bready finish. Light & flavorful overall a tasty golden.

Purchased at City Beer in SF 10/13, bottled 8/13, champagne cork. **Aroma - Fantastically aromatic belgian style golden. Lively, floral with lemon and stone fruit coming off strong. Less yeasty aroma than expected, maybe a hint of cracker from the malt. **Appearance - Poured into a wine glass, strong and frothy head, pale yellow to light gold **Taste - Very strong illusion of sweetness, though no cloying or lingering evidence. Really a ostensibly simple beer to taste, though very elegant and subtle. **Palate - Dry but with strong illusion of sweetness, probably using candi sugar or other some such ingredient. Carbonation is thick but doesn’t burn or overwhelm. Medium long, clean finish. **Overall - Russian river has produced a fantastically elegant and subtle golden ale. Many of their offerings are cellar worthy, though I am not sure if Damnation would qualify, certainly going to pick up some more and see.
