3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: APR 7, 2013 750 ml bottle
Santa sent this last year and I just found it in the back of the cellar. It’s been a while since I tried anything from Russian River. This reminds me why they are such a top notch brewery. I can’t wait to try more of their releases in the future once the cellar thins a bit.
Aroma / Appearance - The golden carbonated base sparkles with life. A wispy ivory head rests for a brief second before fading to nothingness. The mix of hops and malt is backed by a dryness that indicates maybe this was a bit past its prime. It still held a nice lemony zest however.
Flavor / Palate - Pears, chocolate, and semi-sweet aspects tickle the tongue. A blend of oranges and lemons combine on the back of the throat. This is a great beer that I would love to keep in the fridge all the time if it were a local.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20

5/2014 bottle. Haven’t had one in a while -- these used to be pretty regularly available down here but no mas. Shame too cuz it’s a damn fine beer. Beautiful in the glass with lively, delicate carb. Banana and pear on the nose as promised, Belgian-style malts too. Taste is slightly sweet, mouthfeel is very smooth / rich / full. Not my favorite style but an excellent American example.

2.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours murky light yellow with thin white head that lingers. The wheat aroma is a turn off for me but the taste is smooth and balanced. It's a style I typically avoid but this one is solid.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Wow! Soft fruity aroma, bananas and pears, cloudy golden with small finely beaded head. Tingles on the tongue, carbonation and alcohol warmth. Light overall, but taste is complex. Slight tart citrus finish.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a hazy gold(makes sense being bottle refermented) with an average white head that slowly shrinks. Aroma is fruity esters, pears, apples, spicy phenols, and soft/perfumy alcohol. Flavour is fruity, pears, apples, spicy phenols, and moderate soft alcohol. Pretty tasty and goes down pretty easy though just short of a Belgian golden strong but is well rounded.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Thanks to cfrancis for this one. Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a large dense frothy white head. Aroma of banana and pear with light spicy phenols. Taste is light cloves, sweet malts, earthy hops with a nice smooth spicy and hoppy finish. Excellent bpa with a great smooth finish.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Golden colored, white head. Aroma of some sweet grain almost? Taste is well, more of the same. Not really as impressive as I thought it would be.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Belgian yeast, banana, some grainy flavors. This tastes like a Tripel, which isn’t a style I’m particularly fond of.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Another impressive RR beer. Duvel inspired with sweet heavy malts, full palate cover and good length. Good fizz. Bitter aniseed finish.
