COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is our brewmaster’s interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth.

Santa sent this last year and I just found it in the back of the cellar. It’s been a while since I tried anything from Russian River. This reminds me why they are such a top notch brewery. I can’t wait to try more of their releases in the future once the cellar thins a bit.

Aroma / Appearance - The golden carbonated base sparkles with life. A wispy ivory head rests for a brief second before fading to nothingness. The mix of hops and malt is backed by a dryness that indicates maybe this was a bit past its prime. It still held a nice lemony zest however.

Flavor / Palate - Pears, chocolate, and semi-sweet aspects tickle the tongue. A blend of oranges and lemons combine on the back of the throat. This is a great beer that I would love to keep in the fridge all the time if it were a local.

Perfect clear, bright golden color. Massive white head, not very frothy, rather containing big bubbles. Aroma rather typical for belgian golden ale. Sweet, malty, fruity. Peach on the first plan. Taste is super classic, super stylish, but have to admit that style is not my favourite, not the most interesting one. Typical malty and fruity notes with delicate bitterness in the back end. Perfectly well covered alcohol, not even touch of it in the taste. Can feel it in the stomach though. Perfect low carbonation, very smooth and delicate in the mouth. Great quality beer.

UPDATED: JUN 29, 2016 Thanks to VanJamer for this one! Pours a clear light golden with a small white head that leaves really good lacing. Nose is of alcohol, pepper, citrus. A bit tame overall but I prefer that over a big burst of burning alcohol. Taste doesn’t feel sweet almost and is moderately bitter. More pepper and some nice lemony fruits. Not too much alcohol to be felt again here. Body is light to medium, carbonation moderately high. Some bitter alcohol kick but almost no hotness. A fine "tripel light", I can see myself sipping on this when it is time to cool off.

Bottle, 33cl. Hazy orangeish with a frothy ofwhite head. Musky, complex fruity and alcohol aromas. Medium bodied with moderate to fizzy carbonation. Dry and oily. Medium sweet, medium bitter. Stinging bitter fruity character into a similar finish. Very pleasant.

Bottle, 375ml. A clear golden beer with a medium size white head. Aroma is of citrics, Belgian yeast and a hint of alcohol. Taste is bitter with a citrus finish and some hints of pine. Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation and some astringency. Nice beer, but I expected a beer I’ll happily be damned for.

Caged/corked bottle into Trappist glass, cloudy golden color with white head. Aroma notes of Belgian yeast, banana, clove, citrus zest and tad white pepper. Taste adds more white fruits (pears, apricot, some peach), biscuity malt, yeast spiciness and tad herbal. Medium body, moderate-low carbonation, lively, dry with nice fruity citrus finish. Nice solid Tripel given to me as a gift.
