COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is our brewmaster’s interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth.

Bomber, shared. Pours a sparkling golden color with a lacy white head. Aroma is largely Belgian yeast, with clove, banana, and a bit of citrus thrown in for good measure. Taste is a sweet yeast characteristic, with a bit of a clove and citrus flavor at the end. Beer is sublimely smooth throughout. It’s not at the same level as the otherworldly stuff they’ve also done, but it’s a very solid Belgian ale.

Sampler at the brewpub in Santa Rosa. Pale golden color with small white head. Yup, Duvel is an accurate description, just it?s way more complex: Bananas, spicy, slightly bitter, honey, vanilla, coriander. Full body, thick oily mouthfeel. An excellently brewed Belgian Mid-Strong Blonde!

Poured from bottle 6/19. Was expensive but had to try it. Aroma of malt and alcohol. Golden amber, cloudy with a trace of head. Flavors of vanilla, cake, citrus (grapefruit), sweet bread, yeast, coriander, honey, pepper. Well balanced despite all that is going on here. This is a beer that you drink slowly to better enjoy the flavor. Finished well. Outstanding.

Clove and honey in aroma. Taste of a great Belgian with more cloves and some yeast. Flavor has a little tartness and some yeast.

3 oz chilled pour from tap into cylindrical taster as part of Russian River’s “everything on tap” sampled (16 beers this time around) at the brewery itself. I realize that drinking 16 different 3 oz pours is not ideal for proper rating, but when will I ever have an opportunity like this again? Looks like a lager, but does not taste like one. Very light and refreshing. Big flavor though. Nose is clover and grass.

Pours a cloudy golden color with very nice lacing and very minimal head retention. Smells of banana and hay. Kind of like a trip to the farm. Tastes strongly of banana and malt. Not a bad beer and this is coming from a "non-fan" of Belgians.

Pushing 13oz on the bottle. Poured into super bulbous glass that holds it nicely. Glazed donut color, cloudy yellow/hay. Ample lacing, thin on glass, sticky and white. Aroma of sweet fruits, cotton, mineral grains, crystal malts, grass, orange spice. Taste of frontal sweet fruit, orange havans, bitter ramblings. Fruit, spice, and hops load this one on the fun side, the bitters bring it back to revelation. Superb drinker, just asks for more. Looks like it should be a dark ale in the bottle that it is in.

Bottle. Semi hazy golden beer with a large white head. Aroma is fruity with notes of caramel, apricots, dried fruit and grass. Flavor is fruity with notes of caramel, grass, herbs, hay, dried fruit and apricots. Well balanced.
