GABF 2011 - not really a Belgian IPA - more like a super dry, flinty and moderately hoppy Belgian ale, which is completely fine with me, as RR excels at stuff like this - as mentioned, it is crazy dry - nice mix of moderately peppery hops and spicy phenols - a bit of flintiness and dry, mineral character - light and crisp - I want to drink a gallon of this stuff.

Shenandoah Throwdown, 2011. Clear orange-yellow pour with a thin white head. Citrus hop aroma. Slightly sweet with lots of hops. A bit fruity with hints of banana. Some funk. Bitter finish. Nice beer.

Draught at Russian River Brewery. Cloudy gold with a nice lacy head; sparkling. Lemony nose, yeasty, doughy. Rich malt flavor with lemon, dough, bread, a bit funky; very strong hopping goes nice with the sweet lemon. Oily and a bit heavy body. Nice, but a bit too thick and yeasty. Could be cleaner, though good and shows off hops well.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours with a hazed golden body and a white head that lasts and leaves great lace. Aromas are very hoppy, grainy, grassy. Some light phenol/pepper notes, lemon balm and tangerine zest. Flavors are fruity (esters and hops), citrus, grassy hop character, some phenols. A light malty sweetness (not crystal) throughout with a bitter balance overall. Medium bubbles and dry. Tasty!

Growler courtesy of daysinthewake. Served in a Russian River "TION" goblet. Pours a clear golden-yellow color with a two-finger white head and some spotty lacing on the way down, along with a thin collar throughout. The nose carries a bit of Belgian yeast and hops. Contrary to many Belgian IPAs, it seems more like this has Belgian hops in it. Based on my limited experience, it seems close to Styrian Goldings, though I could be way off. Hops don’t quite complement the yeast as much as I’d like. Medium body with good carbonation. Decent, but not Russian River caliber.
