beastiefan2k (1101), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Jun 7, 2008 Big thanks to 5K (apparently almost everyone has to). Pours with an orange shade of amber colored body with a small head that quickly fades. There is a nice ring of bubbly lacing left. The body glows but does not allow one to see through it. Aroma starts with a nice sour twang. It’s an earthy - faintly musky and sweaty - citric lemon, sort of sourness; presently strong sourness. Taste is a bit grapefruit skin-esque bretty sour. There is a short burst of the sourness and then very light acidity and a drying light rubber and leather. It is very smooth for a sour beer, the acidity is barely there. I am surprised that it does not come off obviously blended like the Tornado. It seems to be very dominated by the Sonambic part, which is awesome. 750mL bottle, Derlirium Tremens snifter.
juiceisloose (307), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 23, 2008 #300 Courtesy Oakes and Beershine. This one pours a nice looking dark orange with a small, fizzt white head. The aroma shows sour apples, tart citrus fruits, and some funky oak to balance things out. The flavor is nice and sour of lemons, sour apples and other citrus, but balanced out perfectly by the funky oak and brett. The funky oak and brett add depth and smooth out the acidity from being mouth puckering sour. Medium-full bodied with soft carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel that goes down so smooth. The flavor was almost perfect and balanced throughout with a slight sour finish. A great example of the style and an awesome beer all the way around. mcbackus (637), Merritt Island, Florida, USA Aug 20, 2008 bottle shared by beershine and oakes, huge thanks: pours a beutiful cloudy honey colour good sized white head. aroma is is about the best i have had from RRpure RR sour, great tart, slight lemon, crabapple, damn close to perfection. flavour is great tart lemon, crabapple, fresh fruits with plenty of zest, the malt comes out at the endand is also very well done the sourness is near perfection, some grass comes in at the end just outstanding. smith4498 (339), Miami, Florida, USA Aug 16, 2008 Rate #300! Big thanks to Beershine and Oakes for sharing a bottle of this. Pours light caramel in color with small white head. Nice sour, acidic aroma. Flavor is sour and citrusy with a good amount of funkiness. Light to medium body with lively carbonation. Excellent beer. hopscotch (4460), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Aug 12, 2008 Bottle... O-Town/Vero Beach Throwdown Part 8... This beer rocks!... Murky caramel-colored ale with a small, fizzy, white head. Funky, acidic aroma delivers citrus fruit, leather and horseblanket. Full-bodied and creamy with soft carbonation. Fantastic balance. Just enough residual sugar to keep the extreme acidity in check and smooth out any rough edges. Tannic, tangy finish. Thanks to Beershine and Oakes for sharing this world class beer! mgumby10 (1624), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA Aug 10, 2008 #1600!! Courtesy Oakes and Beershine. Thanks for sharing guys! Pours a gorgeous dark orange, with a small, swirly, light off white head. The aroma is a beautiful mix of tart tannic fruits, acidity, and mild funk. I got some apple in there as the most prominent citrus character. The flavor blends these features almost perfectly. Definitely sour, but not overly so, which enabled me to pull out the soft fruity essence of the beer. Great balance for a sour brew I thought. The acidity wasnt over the top, and this had some great flavor. I need to get more! Killer!
