COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Each time we make this ale we pick a different single variety of hops and use them exclusively in the brew. The malt bill stays fairly consistent from batch to batch so as to allow the distinctive hop flavors to come through. Here are just a few of the hops used in the past: Simcoe, Vanguard, Sterling, YCR-004, Amarillo, Satus, Santium, Tomahawk, and Columbus. Available on draft seasonally.O.G.: 1.060;50 BUíS

On tap at RR, this is the Sterling version. Pours a light gold with a thick white head. Aroma is light smooth hop aroma, a little orange. Taste is smooth crisp malt, a little grassy and not spicy or over the top. A very mellow hop variety that makes a unique ipa.

On tap at the brewpub. I didnít hear very many good things about this one, so I only ordered a sample. I wish I could have had more because it was darn good! Light golden yellow with a white head. The aroma was floral and citrusy with hints of tropical fruit. The flavor was the same. Very fresh and hop forward. It may suffer a bit next to Pliny and Blind Pig or even Row 2, but it was a very nice, light hop forward beer.

zgaier (1608) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - DEC 12, 2013
On tap at Russian River brewery in Santa Rosa. Pours golden with a white head and sweet, fruit, hoppy aroma. Taste is of tropical fruits up front, with hops, citrus, caramel, and toasty notes leading to a bitter, dry finish. Nice IPA

BOLTZ7555 (2960) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAR 29, 2014
On tap @ RR! 14 karat pour with a small ivory crown. Grapefruit pith, mango, papaya, and guava all present themselves in the nose and on the palate. Well crafted but not robust. Lots of subtleties that make it a cut above other single-hop beers Iíve had before but still not terrible complex. Glad I had a chance to try this!

Had on draft at the brewery. I got notes of floral and fruity hops with a soft onion character. There was a sweet maltiness. Not bad.

Tardif version.
Clear golden colour with a small white head. Mild sweet hops in a mild aroma. Mild bitterness and mild hops in the flavour. A bit faceless hop variety.

Idaho #7 version.
Clear golden colour with a small white head. Sweet fruit, tangerine and soda hops in an amazingly delicious hoppy aroma. Soda hops, moderate bitterness, dryness and orange peel in the flavour. Very tasty.

Iím not quite sure how the rate this as these two varieties of this beer are completely different. Iíll go with the Idaho #7 version.

papajohn (1249) - San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA - MAR 16, 2005
On tap@Oíbrien"s: Golden amber in color with a 1/4 inch (bar pour) white head. Aroma is lightly sweet with citrus. Flavor starts lightly grapefruity with a hint of pine finishing kinda dry with an orange peel bitterness. Hoppy and flavorfull without being over the top with hops.

SamGamgee (2452) - down the whirlpool, California, USA - MAR 22, 2009
Draught at the brewpub, sterling version, 5.8%, 42 IBU. Gold with a white head. Aromas of doughy malt, and light spicy and mango/tropical fruit hops. Medium-sweet, bready malt flavor with a spicy, resiny hop flavor and bitterness. Nice hop flavor, but not high on the hop intensity. Interesting, but gets pretty overshadowed by the other hoppy beers in the stable.

Enniskillen (2044) - Salinas, California, USA - APR 13, 2009
Nice amber gold with a nice white head. Aroma is an initial pine hoppiness, followed by fruit, and a fresh hop like accent. Taste is a straight forward hoppiness with little depth to it, light alcohol, some honey like sweetness.
