4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft @ Russian River (finally!). ABV listed as 4.55%, unfiltered. Pours a hazy, effervescent, whitish-yellow color; creamy, fine-bubbled white head with great retention and lacing; delicious-looking. Minerally, lightly herbal hoppiness in the aroma; a touch of citrus; crisp, toasty, vibrant hoppiness. Medium body; lively carbonation; rich, toasty Pils maltiness with a nice core roundness, bolstered by juicy citrus and noble mineral and lightly herbal hop character; a moderate core bitterness with a lot of vibrant hop flavor; some yeasty and vanilla notes in there as well; just a kickass unfiltered Pils that was totally worth the wait; happy birthday, Vinnie! Happy Saturday, me. Medium-length finish; toasty, lingering citrus and mineral bitterness; toasty and dry at the far end.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Russian River in August 2009.
A: Pours a dark straw color with a nice white head and good lacing as it goes down. Plenty of carbonation bubbles visible through the transparent brew.
S: Lots of Noble hops accompany a solid pilsner malt base.
T: The hops dominate atop a slightly-sweet and grainy malt base.
M: A little heavier than most pilsners, while still maintaining a nice, smooth mouthfeel with the right amount of carbonation.
D: Quite drinkable and very sessionable. This one and the Aud Blonde were nice surprises at RR--some very solid sessionable beers from what a great brewery.
Serving type: on-tap

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hand bottle shared by iowaherkeye. Thanks! Poured a clear light orange color with a fizzy white head. Pleasant aroma of Euro-trash hops (Saaz), pale malt, and hay. I also got a whiff of bacon. That’s right, bacon. Light to medium bodied and dry with mild to moderate bitterness. Tasted of pine, fresh saaz, pale malt/cereal grain, and hay. Great pilsener.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
I thought this was very well done for a Pilsner. Certainly modeled after the crisp bitterness in PIlsner Urquell, the beer surprised me. I am not a Pilsner fan whatsoever, but I would drink this beer all summer long. Thick for its style, and bitter enough to drive home some flavor, it was perfect with some pizza from the RR pub.

Bottle shared from iowaherkeye. Odd vegetable aromas, some lemon initially. Golden color with an off white head. Rich enough with dryish flavors and some cheesiness. Palate is pretty creamy. Rich developing flavor. Good.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at the brewpub. Mostly hazy, pale straw colored body with a finger of fizzy white head. Moderate herbal/spicy noble hop aroma with a faint, crackery pils malt note in the background. Clean and fresh aroma. Not as inviting of a pils malt aroma as I’d like, but the juiciness of the hop aroma is certainly welcome. Light bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel with a soft, silky texture. Light crackery malt presence up front, followed quickly by a powerful herbal hop flavor. Intensely hoppy, with an herbal/spicy character that almost approaches grapefruit in quality, but still maintains a "noble" hop perception. Finishes dry, with a refreshing hop bitterness lingering on the palate. This is an awesome, summertime refreshing pilsner example with a hop flavor that provides stiff competition for prima pils. The board stated 33IBU’s, but my perception would be more in the 45-50 range. A little bit more pils malt complexity would be nice, but the mouthfeel is right on and I wouldn’t want that to get in the way of the hop character. Overall, a very enjoyable beer.
