3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap @ O’Brien’s: Poured a medium brown liquid with a slight tint of mahogany while almost no formation of head was on top. Aroma was surprisingly hoppy but I am unable to smell much else because of all the aroma of food and smoke in the atmosphere. As for the drink, a bitter bite of hops dominates the flavor while only a delicate touch of malts holds this brown ale together. Finish is grapefruit juice or lemon zest but could have easily fooled me for being some other style other than brown ale.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A slightly suped up and hoppier than usual english style brown...though it somehow manages to maintain a good balance, just in a bigger tastier than usual package. I’d have guessed 6% or less. Not too shabby. More malty than hoppy despite the 60+ ibu."

Brown ale is brown. On tap at the source. Very mild with light bready maltiness and medium sweetness. Could use some toasty malts and complexity.

Perfect brown ale. Better than DFH India Brown Ale, yet in that class. Pours brown with a nutty, dry character. Ends clean. Hoppy YET not too dry.

Draught @ Russian River, Santa Rosa, CA
Pours dark brown with a smooth head. Aroma of roasty malts, chocolate, cocoa, coffee and hops. Taste is smooth, grassy hoppy and roasty with some cocoa, chocolate and bitterness. Finish is bitter, hoppy and grassy with some roastiness, coffee and licorice. Very hoppy and balanced brown ale, almost feels like a black IPA.

Cheers to the man that created this beer! Tasty’s a real chill dude and great homebrewer. I had this on tap at Russian River. It pours a brownish red color with a khaki head. The aroma has bright red fruit, light toasted malts, a little cocoa and piney florals. The flavor is really nice with toasted malt as the base with plum, grapes, floral, spicy and lightly piney hops working off of that. The finish is floral with some dark chocolate bitterness and some more pine. Very dry. Great beer.
