UPDATED: FEB 8, 2011 Sample at the brewpub. The beer pours a clear dark bronze color with a medium light beige head that dissipates quickly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, dark fruit and malt. Medium body with flavors of sweet yeast and malt accented by raisins and spices. The finish is sweet and malty with a lingering yeast aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

On tap at Toronado RR Night. This dark brown ale poured with a decent beige head. The flavor starts off sweet and malty with a slightly bitter yeasty finish. The alcohol is well-concealed. This is a nice example of the quadrupel style.

@RBWG-growler-thanks to daknole–pours a tan ring for a head and copper color. Aroma is soft dark malt-anise. Tast is dark malt-anise, spice/earthy hops bite.

On tap @ the brewpub. Clear brown copper with a one finger beige head, fading to a ring and tattered film before long. Belgian yeast up front with lots of dried fruits--raisins, figs, apricots--and some scorched caramel. Light earth in the background.Pretty durn sweet thus far. The flavor adds some spicy alcohol and hops to help dry everything out--I was worried for a moment. Surprisingly finishes semi-dry--hooray for an American brewery not making their interpretation of a quad an effing sweet mess! Earthy bitterness peaked around a 3. This does not taste 11% from the ETOH burn, though it is syrupy thick. Low carbonation. I had a sample of this before they officially released it @ the brewpub and wasn’t very impressed. With a full tulip, I am--though I dunno how many of these I could actually drink in one sitting.

Tap at Toronado. This beer pours with a dark brown color. It definitely needs to warm up to shows its full complexity. It has strong flavors of dried fruit such as apricot, some breadiness and some toffee and caramel. Very smooth and hides the alcohol well. Very good.

draft at Russian River. deeper caramel colored pour, westmalle dubbel lke yeast flavor & aroma, dried fruits, light spice. bottle seemed a little light for a quad, seemed more Mauditish to me, pretty flavor ful but falls a notch short of top of the line quads
